Default Scissors Takedown?

Have you seen anyone successfully use a scissors takedown in the UFC,Pride or any other MMA match?

Also what style of fighting is this takedown more commonly found?

I've never seen it in MMA but that's Cung Le's specialty. It's a kung fu technique, although I'm not sure if any other arts have them.

It used to be in the syllabus when I did Japanese Ju Jutsu, but I've only ever seen it carried off once in competition.

It was at a Kumite tournament in northern england by a bloke called Pat Carr ( http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...FighterID=6034 ). His JJJ (with a hint of a brazilian influence) was excellent before he started MMA. He was a real showman - doing backflips into the ring etc.

How does Cung Le use it? Does he use some sort of distraction or setup before he does it?

I've seen Cung Le do it a lot in his San Shou style, but Judo has it and is called the Kani Basami.

I don't know, it's lots of fun watching Cung use it but it never appealed to me as something I'd use personally. You can see him do it around 1:37 or so of this clip though:

Cung Le can do the scissors takedown in his sleep. His is directed towards the whole body as opposed to the sambo or jujutst kani basami, which is more towards the leg. Capoeira also has this move. It is a great counter when somebody tries a tani otoshi type throw.
