Default Fight Night!

Did anyone see that fight between Diego Sanchez vs Karo Parisyan? Those were some super gnarly no-gi judo throws!!! Sanchez is cool but I started rooting for Parisyan after I saw the first throw. Wicked sick throws!!!

Yeah, that fight was one of the most exciting fights i'd have ever seen! Diego mounted Karo so many times and pretty much beat his ass. Diego also had a Wand-like staredown.

The Riggs/Von Flue fight was good too. Perfect triangle from guard. His Harai Goshi before that was perfect as well.

But Dean Lister really dissapointed me. I thought i was gonna see a sub but he couldnt seem to throw or even takedown Sasaki and keep him there. His stand up striking and grappling really need to improve. Then again, he got really tired.

Yeah, them Judo throws were tight! Personally I wouldn't say that Diego "beat his ass", it was a great fight!

Man, when the Karo/Diego fight was playing live the first time and Karo got smacked in the face I said out loud "I hope that was just sweat and not a tooth." Well, I hope they got the tooth in some milk fast!

I agree that the Lister fight was a dissapointent. I was really excited about that one. Lister needs to work the striking and cardio more, maybe he thought Sasaki was going to be a push over.

Lister hits about as hard as me.
He had that straight stiff jab going for him, but other than that
he had no power whatsoever....

Sasaki's choke defense was real good (partly because Lister had no
punch power to soften him up)...Lister kept taking him to his back-side
when he would take his back(to go for choke), which imo was a mistake.
Not only can he no longer strike effectively, but that position is the easiest
to escape "back with hooks in"..

When Karo hit that first Ouchi Gari, I almost shit myself.

Ouchi Gari, Harai Goshi, and Uchi-Mata, my three favorite throws, all in one fight.... so nice.

Karo's throws blew me away, perfect. But you know who really suprised me was Riggs, he made Von Flue look like an amateur out there. That is the best performance I have seen from him yet... great throw, great guard work...

Again though those throws from Karo were amazing, honestly his Uchi-Mata was flawless and if he hadn't been so close to the fence would have put him in side-mount or mount even, but Diego was like a monster that fight. I mean he never tired and he was relentless... He has some GREAT conditioning. Very few fights have I seen someone go that hard all 3 rounds. Karo held with him through round 2 but couldn't keep up on round 3, which imo was the deciding round. A great fight, worthy of multiple replays if to do nothing but watch Karo's throws....

The Lister, Susaki fight was a dissapointment. I expected much more from Lister and he did not deliver, maybe due to his weight cutting, maybe he underestimated Susaki. Honestly though, there are no excuses for a figther of his caliber to perform that poorly. When you step into the Octagon you should be ready to fight...

Default gotta be able to punch

it seems some better strikers are making thier way into the ufc, and suprise suprise bjj doesn't rule the roost anymore!

I agree with the judo throws they were nice, but Diego had sufficently weakened him with knees and punches, when you've got 3-4 punch combos in your face doing an armbar isn't the first thing on your mind.

I also wonder what you guys thought of the Ultimate Fighter fight, same animal shoney won because though his opponent was a better grappler he smaked him silly!

Without Matt Sera's help I think Shonie would have been in for a beating honestly. I think Clementi massively under estimated Shonie's striking and strength which were both big factors that fight.

Yeah, I agree with jordan. In my opinion they kinda assumed he was the weakest link because he goofed off all the time so they went with him.

Everyone caught that finger he gave to the ref when he was being triangled right?

I missed the fights, but reading about Lister, Ive told you guys time and time again, go back and read my posts, he has horrible striking skills. My friend who was a blue belt when Dean was a brown belt in class, they would practice striking with gloves on and my friend said he would slap the shit out of Dean and get him all humiliated. That seems to be true in most of his fights, Shogun dropped him with a right in PRide. DEan needs lots of work on standup, but once he gets to the ground hes just fine.

Yeah, what was that about? Was he giving it to Riggs or to the Ref? I thought it was too the Ref myself, maybe he was telling him to go ahead and tap or something like that. That was a TIGHT triangle, he wasn't getting out of that one.

I did see the last round of Diegos fight, he looks like one of the best fighters to come around in a long time. The guy has no weaknesses. He does need to improve at all angles, but for what he has to work with at this point, this guy will be champ in no time. very impressed at all his fights. The only complaint is that he seems to rush his submission set ups rather than take his time to set them up properly, but hey, he got a black belt so he's pretty good. At the ADCC last year he did pretty good too, though Marcelo Garcia armbarred him after 7 minutes or so

he is an ametuer, i dont know why that guy is ever in the UFC, he has absolutely no ground game. when guys know that, they take u down at tap u out. i mean joe riggs, the worst ground fighter prolly ever, tapped out Von Turd, thats time to hang up the gloves or hit the ground fighting school 6 times a week for 4 years then make a comback
