Default any benifit to tai-chi for people who only value/like sport combat and or self defnse

cirriculium. BTW I know it will get me stretching again so there's one benifit any others? Also I've been too hurt since january to train at home in boxing/mma striking/self defense stuff ect. so it's this or the gas pipe lately.
I'm starting this tai-chi class at college today so any insights/benifits would be cool

Maybe you could get more information in the Chinese MA forum. No Tai-Chi experience here, sorry...

I've done a some traditional stuff... It hasn't helped my 'applicable' arts one bit but I think it's nice to broaden ones horizon's sometimes. At least when your standing around shooting the old traditional vs progressive talk - you'll know something about it.

I definately think it can help with relaxation, stretching etc. The benefits of Tai Chi are well documented. They may not directly benefit your MMA stuff, but indrectly I think it will. Take it with an open mind and try to find common threads in all combat arts. It can't hurt. (much!)

It has some nice applications but it takes ages before you get into that.

edit:I cant belive i bought into this ^ lies, lies. TSD is shotokan with a Korean name and an emphasis on hip movement.
