Default Do you learn self defense in bjj class?
I havent learned any yet LOL and i just got my purple, i had to break out old karate and judo books LOL!!!


( Now the above is a joke but watch these sick forum members call me names and stuff, this is why i should not post on the bjj forum)

Congratulations on getting your purple!

My BJJ club in Japan did do a bit of self-defense stuff (goshinjutsu), but it wasn't a major focus.

learning to defend and escape chokes, escaping bad positions, and preventing people from overpowering you isnt for self defense?

What exactly is self defense than if you can stop a takedown, escape a headlock, block a punch and choke your opponent out? I dont know but it works for me.

thats just the beggining. But some so called "purple belt" was asking. LOL, oooooooook mr purple belt. Id bet this goon never has taken 1 BJJ class in his life

My instructor was a purple belt and he's fighting at a professional level in KOTC. So...if you're a purple belt and still can't at least fight decently then you're probably full of shit, troll.

Got to love the BJJ guys reactions. I can just imagine that you're all pumped on steriods, you dont own anything that isn't a vest and your opening chat up line being 'hey i work out'. Sorry just a stereotypical view i have of you peeps.
