The US is a big country and it is only very small still in NY state with only a few big school here. There are many schools who train in BJJ but not many that are strictly, or mainly BJJ. I believe it is also pretty popular in California.

In California, there are some suburbs with 2 or 3 BJJ schools.

I'm here in Australia, and it's growing in popularity every year here. We have quite a few schools with Brazilian instructors, and a growing number of home-grown blackbelts too.

I'm in Australia aswell (Ballarat, Victoria), and alls I can really speak for is my hometown Ballarat, and to my knowlege there's an Daito-Ryu Aiki Jujutsu dojo, a judo dojo, but no BJJ to speak of at all. It saddens me, because I really want to train in it. Oh well. Moving to Melbourne at the end of next year, and I'll get into it then.

Hi Nips.

I guess it's not surprising that a regional place wouldn't have many options... I'm on the Central Coast of NSW. My school (Beston Gracie Central) is the only pure BJJ school here, but there are more and more MMA places that offer some BJJ.

In Sydney, there are tons of BJJ schools.

Good luck in moving to Melbourne - there should be some good options for you there! I just saw a bunch of Victorian teams competing at the nationals yesterday in Sydney!

Cool. How'd they go?

Yeah, I'm REALLY looking foward to doing some BJJ, I just get town to shreds on the ground by anyone who knows what they're doing. I know this is offtopic, but are there any MMA tournoments in Aus at all that you know of? I haven't heard of anything major, the only things I've heard of are generally pretty low key and dodgy

Training, so you recently started at the Gracie Academy! Cool! I trained there last year and the year before when visiting the US. It's an awesome school!
