![]() | It's a bit of BJJ with some Muay Thai, from the look of it. Matt Hughes uses it really well. He's got a great ground game and some excellent standing techniques. Good system, but it's not like you can learn it anywhere. Pat Miletich used to fight, but now he just trains other UFC fighters. |

![]() | If you want to sell you fighting knowledge you name it. Pat has boxed professionally, he was the Midwest Muay Thai champ, he trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and of course, being in Iowa, they are very strong in wrestling. Weaknesses. What they call BJJ is really wrestling where they keep fighting from there backs. They have mediocre guards, half guard, mount, back, knee on stomach, open guard. They are better at side control and North South, but not with submissions. They are poor at submissions and submission defense. Their fighters are beaten often by submission. They usually only try obvious and very safe submissions. They also neglect their Muay Thai clinch in favor of a wrestling clinch. Very poor knowledge of Muay Thai clinch and very little respect for the concept. They tend to train their different aspect separately will little realistic integrated sparring. It is either boxing, Kickboxing, ground grappling of grappling from standing. Their stand up striking tends to be boxing with Thai round kicks. They are weak in front kicks, side kicks, spins, body punches, elbows, sweeps, clinches and knees. They tend to focus soley on going all out (wrestler mentality) and do not stop to analyse themselves in training. Strengths Emphasis on conditioning Many very experienced fighters Good wrestling with lots of experienced wrestlers to train with Good boxing with pro boxers to spar lots sparring Good takedown defense Most successful fighting school in the world. |
