Default The Ufc is shooting mma in the foot

As a trainer and fighter/howbiet amature I am curious to gather opinions, was anyone else angered by the fact that the Dr. didn't stop the first fight on the Tito shamrock card. (the guy fighting the deaf wrestler) I say this for a reason so if your one of the crowds of morons who want the ufc as it used to be not a sport then don't respond!

Florida has just recently allowed the UFC back and that cut would have stopped any boxing match period, secondly why is the Dr. asking John mcarthys opinion he can stop it if he wants, and lastly the guy didn't even want to fight any more, it is spectacles like that that are bad for the sport! It was obvious he wasn't there a subnovice boxer could have knocked him out the way he dropped his hands.
I was very impressed with Mcdonalds quick defeat of Herman with smooth technical style
I am not trying to be a kill joy but it seems that the trailer park trash are ruining the love of the fight game, Dana White please do not try and cow tail to the lowest denominator of society! Remember it wasn't long ago the UFC was banned in 45 states it could happen again!

Opinions?

i DIDNT think it should have been stopped, let them bleed, if its that bad and deep, the DR will stop it. But fighters are prone to crying over fights being stopped to early, like Ken, so theres a fine line between when to stop and when to let it go. But Matt Hamil def. learned alot from Tito, especially that chikcenshit stuff lie grinding your laces of th egloves over the cuts to make them worse. Now thats sissy stuff if ive ever seen, what you cant tap the guy so you rub the wounds to make them worse so the ref stops them? Thats lack of techinique and skill and abuse of ethics.
McDonald showed the Gracie Barra skill set, owning Herman, complete BJJ domination there. Awesome, I hope to see him fight again, and not Ed Herman, he sucks

I can't belive it but I agree totally oma, pure garbage using the laces to cut, why don't they tape over them like they do in boxing or use sweatbands or somthing!

I usally like wrestlers, but this guy didn't impress me at all, not one bit I'm not trying to sound like a kill joy but Boxing like it or not is the standard they use to judge combat sports, Mcain jumped on the anti UFC bandwagon for a ken shamrock much less beaten than that gouy was, just saying!

matt hamil will get ktfo before to long. you can't keep walking around with your hands down and not get caught. i think what he did was in bad form and underhanded. i'm glad Ed "trailer park" Herman got beat he sets a bad example for mma.

The fight shouldnt have been stopped, period. But the elbows on the ground should be illegal. Its not a skills thing, you grind your elbow into their eye. Im very dissapointed in Matt Hamill though. He's been grappling(wrestling) his whole life, is extremely great, but didnt even attempt to pass guard. Instead, he's content with lying within guard and lay and praying his way to victory. Not only that, he NEEDS elbows to GnP. If he could only use punches, hammerfists, etc, is GnP would be nothing. All PRIDE fighters(and other MMA orgs) are not allowed to use elbows, therefore making the GnP much more superior. Other MMA orgs also take out elbows on the ground because it promotes STALLING and pointless CUTS!.
Did you see Seth Petruzelli after the fight? He was bloody, yes, but no where near rocked during the fight. In his post fight interview, he was ok, just some stitches. I cant wait until Matt Hamill gets brutally KTFO or submitted.

Elbows are essential to the ground for knockout power and creating distractions for passing the guard and setting up other techniques. Only the MISUSE of elbows caused problems like you're saying like stalling.

I liked him alot. HATE HIS NICKNAME THOUGH. I think he should have something suggesting finess in his name. Not the word but the implication. He was very smooth and he reminds me of constant flow jiu-jitsu.

I agree with oma twice I hate herman to, I think a worm hole is about to open and space & time halted, I wonder though if any of you guys have officated a boxing match, I have I would have stopped that in a new york second, USA Boxing standards teach that while in the standing 8 count if a fighter hesitates or breaks eye or hand contact with the official a fight should be stopped, When the Dr asked him if he wanted to fight he didn't say yes, in fact he almost said no! but as I said just my opinion & I am not always right about everything. McCdonald fought that fight perfectly he was very smooth, I look forward to seeing him go up through the division.

He is just deaf, not dumb. Well he might be dumb, but not in the medical sense, he can talk
