Default What makes a good MMA fighter?

In your own opinions what do you think makes a good MMA fighter, just interested into what everyone thinks, i have my own opinions on this which i will share later but whats yours?

Adaptability. Being able to adapt to all situations would be the biggest one. Good groundwork, mixed with good striking.

Same as for any sport: knowing your strengths and weaknesses and being able to build a solid gameplan around them.

They make minor adjustments and improvements over time, but all of the best champions have a main strategy that they've developed to suit them; and they stick to it.

Natural attributes are a huge part of it, too. It doesn't matter if you've got the best strategy on the planet if the other guy's strategy is to cold clock you (and he has the attributes to back it up).

I think this is a big reason why people love to hate Lidell. His strategy is: "don't get taken down, if you get taken down then get back up, counter punch the guy and knock him out" His gameplan only works because of his experience and natural abilities.
