I think this happens when people don't shoot often enough. It starts to become a big deal.

Completely agree. When you shoot a single, double, high crotch or any takedown you have to do it with conviction and with everything you have. The reason for this: defense is always easier than offense. This is true in most cases, and grappling is no different. But an overhwhelming offense always shows greater gains with less loss than do the gains of an effective defense.

So if properly set up(and many people would rather rely on speed and strength) and execute a shot, with everything you have, against an equal or lesser opponent you are probably going to land it AND end up in better position.

Yea, even if you have a low % rate of hitting the shot, if you shoot enough, effectively set up, and have the timing down, you're bound to hit it, even if the other guy has a fantastic sprawl(if you're talking wrestling).

LOL.

Ahem.

Yeah, I think that's why some people say the martial arts are half physical and half mental. Can't shoot good if you don't think you will, right?

But I think doing tons of takedown drills will remedy you. Or maybe try some other different throws vs. different partners? I've found that I can uchimata on some people but not others.

Just my one cent.
