I enrolled recently in a MMA class, and I was doing well, except for one thing:
There's a guy that has 20 kilos over me, and he's very good on the ground, so I shouldn't go down on him unless the submission is already locked in. I thought I'd shoot off his balance with low kicks, then go for an ankle takedown, with a leg lock. Trouble is, I don't know that many leg locks that focus the knees. Any detailed feedback, plz? |

The only leg locks you'll be able to pull off in an actual fight as a takedown that goes directly into a submission is a flying kneebar.
Type in Imanari on youtube (I believe thats the guy) to see the master of Flying Leg locks in action. The chances of you getting this though, very, very slim. I dont know if you've heard of a flying armbar or triangle, but up the difficulty and chance to fail by about ten times and you've got a flying kneebar there. You say he has 20 kilos on you, and the fact that you "dont know many leg locks that focus on the knees" gives me the impression that your somewhat of a beginner. No offense if your not, its just... something you should know, even if your school doesnt train them, you should still know what they are, its kind of like common grappling knowledge. Have you ever thought about maybe not taking him down? I guss with the 20 kilos you fear standing with him, but if your better than him there, why not. You said you were going to try using leg kicks to put him off balance than take him down. Well if you can constantly kick him in the leg, just do that. If your trying to win, if your trying to learn something you might have to go to another strategy. (You can do it, just dont do it ALL the time). Even better, try taking him down with a real takedown to a superior position. I know alot (ALOT) of people that are better than me on the ground.... I do however have a chance of beating them if I put them on the ground and am already in side control, north south, etc..

If you're a quick guy(you didn't say if the bigger guy was in better shape or quicker) I would shoot low singles all day. Stay to the outside and look to shoot the low or sweeping singles. Dumps can also work for a smaller guy if you get in quick enough.

Yeah, i think it's obvious "MasterGrappler" is our good friend, OmaPlata, in disguise. How you doing, buddy? Have a good Thanksgiving and all? Yeah? Well, that's nice.
Now back to what's important. Hmm. I also have trouble sparring with heavier guys in my class, so I find myself using the duck under for some reason. Maybe it'll work for you, maybe it won't. But I'd give it a try, though, if you haven't already. My 2 cents. |

Duck under is ok, but again you have to tie up with the opponent. Tying up is generally not better for the smaller guy.

Why'd you change your name to MasterGrappler anyways? The forum moderator warned you one too many times and decided to ban your previous name(s)? Why did you even post a pic of a girl and her dog anyways? Is that suppose to prove something? |

I am from america so whats with the limey references?, perhaps san diego is a place that u have never heard of since your small wallet doesnt allow travels to places like that. My girl is hotter than anything you or Jtard have ever scored. (ill take the pic down out of respect)And the fact you mention picking up girls at a 'club' further proves my point that you actually dont pick up girls anywhere |
