Default learn now..

If you are really that concerned, take some bjj or wrestling, it teaches you a lot of good stuff that can be applied in real life.

basically, in a fight no matter what you don't want to be taken to the ground unless you are a part of the gracie family

Grappled how? BJJ and wrestling will teach you excellent ways and methods of ground grappling. But there are better systems of jujitsu for learning how to grapple and tie a guy up while you both are still standing. And since its street fighting we're talking about, like Jiu-fu fighter said you don't want to go to the ground where all the variables are beyond your control.

I have been learning some cool wrist techniques in aikido for standing grappling and there is always the option of taking them down.

I also love the movement it is so smooth and circular flowing

Fist

If it's one guy and he tries to grapple me in the street I am going to slam him on hard ground if it is more than one I am runnig away or if I have to fight them then I will just sprawl and brawl.

I'm not sure of why you would wnat to kill this thread before it goes further.

These threads that "go further" usually turn out to be the better ones. Amidst all the flaming and bashing you get peoples opinions, values, ideas, and advice coming out, its possible to have your eyes opened up to new things, and this is where the discussions or arguments happen, which is whats supposed to happen on this forum.

What do you think is the better thread, Uke's "so you think bjj is effective for self defense" (title is something along those lines)... or brilliant posts such as "Modern Technology: Vale Pseudo", or how bout another gem "superfight; Rosie Odonell vs Donald Trump".

While Uke's thread was highly controversial, I didnt agree with everything in it, people yelled, flamed, I'm sure somewhere out there someone cried (omoplata?) that thread is gonna teach you alot more than 85% of the shit on this forum.

I dont agree with Uke on everything, I dont have to like him, doesnt mean I shouldnt respect his view, and try to learn something from him, because I'm sure I can.

What kind of a shitty forum would it be if every thread was...

BJJ IS SO GREATZORZ!!!!!...

then everyone agreed with it.

**** I love BJJ, Judo, the whole grappling thing, doesnt mean my opinion of it shouldnt be challenged once in awhile.

So this post will probably get a reply from you, than from someone else, I'll reply back, and it will turn into one of those good threads, yay, being a significant poster 101 right here boys and girls, LMAO.

Variables such as falling onto hard cement, falling onto glass, rocks...etc..
also, the possiblity of his buddies coming into the equation.

I absolutely agree that bjj and wrestling are excellent ground grappling arts, hell I have taken them both.

but.. your chances are much better to keep the fight on your legs than on the ground where you are so much more vulnerable.

I agree with samuraiguy, as long as people bring good strong evidence to back up their claims than it is definetly a debate worth having. but as soon as people start dissing oneanother and the thread goes off track, than we are just losing our intelligence by deciding to sticking around.

*sigh* How many times do we have to go 'round the same old track?

There are 'variables' in all ranges and situations and your 'vulnerability' will depend on many factors, chief among them your skills in each range relative to those of your opponent. Every situation and circumstance is unique and the 'best idea' in any given instant is the one that gives you the greatest advantage, not what some pUke on the internet told you to do!

First of all , I can think for myself, and nobody is going to tell me what to do!
second of all, I have a strong feeling that you are a ground grappling guy, no? because you sure defend it like crazy, but I have also done some ground grappling and I am still learning from it, BUT, when it comes down to it you don't want to be wrestling a guy on the street no matter how good you are, even the gracies know this.
third of all, I have lots of respect for Uke, unlike you, he actually manages to right down insightful stuff, you are just full of one liners and disses.
