Fist UFC Fight Night: Thursday

I see some of the fights are good... I didnt recognized Heath Herring until I saw this video. So he is now on UFC. With his 26-11-1 record in his MMA career he seems to have a lot of experience, but UFC fighters are really good. Hoping he will do better in his fight against Irish.

killer, I honestly feel that the only guy in the UFC that will give Herring the kind of challenge that fans want to see is CroCop.

Yes, he's lost 11 fights but look at that list:
  • His lost to Greco was from a knee injury and not because of anything Greco did.
  • He lost to Nog 2X . . . wow, no shame there . . . who in the UFC beats Nog? Hmmm, nobody.
  • He lost by TKO to CroCop . . .surprise, but in a smaller fight area (like the octagon) does CroCop get the chance to tee off like he did in that fight? Hmmm . . . I smell an awesome rematch coming.
  • Lost to Fedor via a cut . . . HELL, it was Darth Fedor, what does ANYONE expect?
  • Loss to Vitor Belfort almost six years ago when Vitor was still pretty good.
  • And a few others like Mezhidof, Hoffman (when he was one of the best around), Ferreira (a grappling superstud, old school Luta Livre . . . now with BTT), Travis Fulton (???), and Evan Tanner.

That's not exactly a bad list and the idea of him in the Octagon . . . scary. The cage is almost the perfect environement for his style.

What the fuckis UFC thinking trying to market Rashad Evans vs Sean Salmon as the main event? Seriously, wtf.

Do you guys know who Sean Salmon is?

HE IS A CAN! The ufc is trying to sell the noob fans on his 9-1 record, when in reality, all his wins come against other cans with like 0-1 records!

Rashad by KO in the first or second round. I guarantee it!

There's some other good match ups on this card though i think. Either way, im watching. Should be good.

Well it's Salmon turn to be on UFC.. lol... but honestly I think he should not be in the main event. Rashad will just beat this guy. Heath, he didn't look that good to me. Of course, I saw him against CroCop .. nobody looks good against him. LOL!!!

To be honest only two fights actually interest me...i def will watch and am looking foward to the rest of the card but im really pumped for these two fights.

Spencer Fisher vs Hermes Franca:Man im so pumped because they can bolth finish each other at ANY time shit thats a fight ill be watching at the edge of my seat.

Din Thomas vs Clay Guida:Again Guida is absolutely relentless with his takedowns and ground and pound and is not afarid to stand and bang or go for submissions an extremely exciting rough and tough fighter.Thomas is SLICK as hell with his Boxing and Grappling skills and is a well rounded Veteren of over 25 fights against the best in the world at 145 155 and 170.Look for a sheer battle of agression and will vs slick technicall all round fighting by Thomas....Man i love watching guys like Thomas with his Technique and Clay will bring his iron will and go 110mph for the finish....lets see who wins!

Nice head kick by Croshad Evans! I think Sean Salmon is dead.

Got love those extra punches that came AFTER he was already knocked out. Nice job Troy Waugh for stopping the fight late!

So...how bout that Herring fight?

What an "awesome" Lay N Pray match. Herring looked like crap, but O'Brien made maybe 1 or 2 lame ass attempts to finish. And he did the get on my knees so i can't get hit crap. UFC needs to do something about that.

when i saw the footage of salmon shadow boxing before the fight, i shook my head right then and there when i realized even i have better striking skills than that guy. damn sloppy. did u see that terrible jump kick attempt? you could just hear the disgust in rogans voice. i give the guy props for stepping in the ring and putting his cuffs up, but cmon, refine your techniques a bit when you know you are going to be competing. but then again, the guy was mostly a wrestler so i cant really talk too much shit.

both guys had their hands really low the entire time. you guys think this is because they are mostly wrestlers?

Irish won by decision. It was a terrible Lay N Pray display by Irish, with Heath being equally unimpressive by getting dominated in positioning all day long.

Once Heath started swinging for the fences, a few shots connected and dropped Irish, but then he couldnt follow up...closest he got was the north south position, but no knees on the ground with UFC rules, so his most successful technique to date was out.

Oh...and Heath looked fatter and slower than usual. I don't think he took this fight seriously enough.

I saw him come in with his hands hardly up at all...then after less than a round he had to put them even lower because he was too tired and I predicted the rest.

And despite that O'Boring couldn't land a single decent shot. While once Heath started swinging wild, O'Boring got hit by some unbelievably obvious, telegraphed punches...that fight simply sucked.

Heath GAVE him multiple submission opportunities so that he'd actually DO something, but Irish just sat on top of him. He might as well have been picking his nose while on top for all the "damage" he did.

Stallfest. I can't wait for them to put up Tim Sylvia against O'Boring...now THAT would put everybody to sleep. But regardless, I'm still pissed Heath fought like crap.
