Question

Are you talking about American blackbelts or just the total number of BJJ blackbelts currently teaching here in the US?-ED

Question

well, another factor is that a lot of the black belts will come to america to visit for an extended period (6 mo. or so), not necessarily move here for good. (ex. royler gracie)

BB that have actually MOVED here i'd guess are WAY less than 100. actually, now that i think about it, even if you include the "visitors", it's still probably less than 100. and i'm talking about legitimate black belts, guys whose promotional "lineage" you can trace.

Well I would think there are about 40 to 50 American blackbelts and maybe 100 Brazilian blackbelts here. There are at least 30 or so in So Cal alone.-ED

Cool

you can go to:
www.BJJ.org

although I don't think it's been updated lately, you can go count the black belts there, figure out which ones are here and get a count.
