Hardball,
I have all of Sperry instructionals for sale. Gi, NO gi, and NHB/Streetfighting. All consist of gameplans with tons of techniques especially chokes. No you don't need just 1 or 2 chokes. You need a gameplan that teaches you what to do if your opponent resists each move. To learn more about what you'd be getting visit groundfighter.com and look up all of Sperrys instructionals. I have them ALL. No better price than mine. Contact me at adrian.dsouza@sympatico.ca to buy. |

in order to knock someone out, you have to knock them, not choke them. |

There is no such thing as a tap in the street.................Knock out, which is loss of consciousness can be done with a choke.

I have to agree that ledfut has a point here. Knockout power implies impact. A choke requires no impact, just constriction, Hardball. As far as what JujitsuMan stated about choking being the best way to knock a man out, I sort of disagree there. Choking is definitely the most reliable way to knock a man out, but the situation defines whether it is the best. By that I mean that if you are attacked by two or three guys, you may not have the time to choke one of them out. In that scenario, a strike to the jaw or temple would be most ideal because the effect is faster without pinning you down to just one opponent. The problem is that the strike isn't guaranteed to KO your opponent, but in the event that it did that would be the method of choice. So yeah, the choke is definitely more reliable, but just like a strike it has its drawbacks so its hard to call either best.

I don't think I fully explained myself, so I'm sorry. People veer off topic all the time, that's alright but I was referring to the people like JiujitsuMan who was posting something just to make himself sound smart.

If you people think choking someone out is not the best efficient way for a knockout your not being realistic.
all you have to do is watch the 1st UFC and see Royce gracie versus some world class kickboxers (who specialize in knockout) NOT knockout Royce on the come in , and get choked into oblivion on the ground. Now if world class strikers (who weren't aware of his game) couldn't knock him out and yet he choked the out (which is a technical knockout) what makes you think the layman in the street will be more effective? As for multiple attack, the best technique is to run. Seriously. Build up your sprinting times and get the hell out. Also people who say chokes will be let go as soon as your opponent taps, and referring to wimps grappling. Royce and other juijitsu men love to leave their chokes on for many seconds after their opponent taps. I like what royce said : "in competition i stop when the promoters want me to stop, in the street I stop when I WANT to stop." |

And again, you're veering off the topic and throwing up random info just to sound smart. Who here said anything or mentioned anything about multiple attackers? Who said or asked anything about the effectiveness of choking on the streets at all? Stay on topic.
