This is now my new favorite place. I never thought I find a town I like more than NYC, but I have. I'm training at Saulo Ribeiro's academy. In the same gym where Saulo's place is I saw Minatauro (who I just met in Japan before he fought in King of Kings) and congratulated him on his win. So he invited me to come do some no gi training with Top Team while I'm here. A Brazilian guy from Gracie Japan (our only purple belt) is in town now training with them. Yesterday I hiked up a mountain with Saulo and a bunch of the guys from the academy. It was pretty hard, especially since I actually had to do a little bit of rock climbing (it was my first time and I'm afraid of heights). But the view at the top was amazing. BTW, I hooked up with Patrick from this forum one afternoon. He's the one that helped me find Saulo's place. He also gave me a T-shirt for Hawk's training association. "Pat Hardy's Texas Punishment Crew." The training is harder than I'm used to (glad I did all those crunches and push-ups for the 2 months before I came). Anyway, I'll have a full report on everything when I get back (at least everything BJJ related).

Hey E!!

Glad to hear you're having a kick-ass time. I knew that once you got settled into the academy that things would start happening for you.

I'm sure the training is tough because before I left Saulo said he had begun his Aubi-Daubi training. I got a few peeks at his training sessions with Royler and some other guys at Humaita' and let me tell you they mean business.

Went over to top team today. Saw Sperry, Goes, Belfort, Bustamonte, and Minatauro all on the matt training at the same time. Life is good.
