I taught the second one with that exact series in my white belt class last week.

Awesome combination. With his opponents arm posted like that I probably would have gone for a sweep instead but hell, if you can make him tap then do it!

Thanks for posting the videos

Yes this is basic, but doing that in the mundials isn't basic ;-)

"advanced basics" doesn't make sense...BJ is a great grappler, but not the smartest speaker sometimes. I could agree with "basics are all you need."

Yes it means you have to work the bases again and again.
Even if you think you master the bases there is always something to improve and to work on.
Just like Rickson do ... !

Simple

Basics == When I perform the above techniques

Advanced Basics == When Roger Gracie performs the above techniques.

hello,

agreed.

still, those moves were rather nicely executed. djcoldfusion, it is always interesting to review commentary about this technique or that. interesting because it is fun to hear about different techniques that are usable at any given point.

thanks

Yes and it's even better when the videos are from competition footage.
So you can view and analyse the technique in a real situation.
And you know it really works.

hello,

agreed. there have been many instances of analyzing a technique or sequence and when comparing "instructional" footage with "competetive" footage, the difference is amazing.

marclaimon's remix series would be a good example of "applied instruction". hahahahahahahaha!!!

thanks

hello,

do you have a favorite? have watched them all a few times (out of order and in bits and pieces mostly) and have found that at one time or another they have all been useful.

thanks.
