Default Looking for MMA Gyms in Tucson AZ

Does anyone have any suggestions for an MMA gym in Tucson? I'm looking for somewhere that can cross train Muay Thai, BJJ, etc. I'd like to train somewhere that has connections to local tournaments as well. I'll be a Tucson resident this coming January. Thanks!

Ooh, I see what you're looking for.

Yeah you know about Elite Muay Thai and I know some of their guys compete.
Again, check out Tactical Defense Academy
    http://tucsontda.tripod.com/

This gym has good MMA classes, not so sure about the boxing. There's a handful of guys that are fighters. Good equipment, too:

There is also Don Frye's group. I don't know where they train but I know some of them crosstrain at Rincon High School.

If you look around you can find a bunch of boxers and MMA/BJJ/Muay Thai guys who do private sessions or small groups.

There are also some good judo places in town.

The two places that really mix it up as far as arts go are Boxing Inc (I already shared my opinion of them) and a place called SWAT or something like that which is also overpriced.

There are a couple good BJJ schools in town but they get kinda weird if you train at other places. One is called De Brazil http://www.debraziljiujitsu.com/
    and I forget the other...

There are a few other places that are connected to local competitions, but none I'd recommend.

    Good luck.

Fist Best MMA gym in Tucson for pro all around MMA training

IF you're looking for the best MMA that includes Muay Thai, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Russian Sambo, submission grappling boxing, Wrestling and traditional boxing, check out Team X1 Sports and fitness. Mike Whitehead opened the gym in Tucson recently. He trains and I believe has or does still corner some of the best UFC, Strikeforce and other top organization elite world champion fighters like Frank Mir, Wanderlei Silva, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin. He is an active fighter. The website says he's currently 26-7. He has fought Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine, Tim Sylvia, Kevin Randleman, Ben Rothwell, Renato Sobral, Brandon Vera and other top UFC guys. He's compared to Forrest Griffin when it comes to training so that's as high as a compliment as you can get since Forrest is known for being the first in the gym and the last to leave. I went there a few weeks ago and met Frank Mir and Wanderlei Silva. I heard Mike mention that Forrest Griffin and Frank are coming back in the next Month. Mir mentioned he is training again with Mike for his fight against Roy Nelson. Mike seems to be a great guy and has a lot of respect in the MMA game. HOWEVER, IF you're looking for a gym with lots of weights, this not the place to go at this point. They're all about the fitness and Pro MMA training! Its also cool since you can get in your cardio kickboxing and boxing classes before their MMA class. Its on the corner of Grant and Alvernon. In the Fry's Shopping Center. Their website is cool and informative X1 Sports and Fitness, Kickboxing and MMA Phone is 209-BOXN
    Good Luck!
