Has Bas retired ? I know his UFC fights were dissapointing but I enjoyed seeing him fight Pancrase and had looked forward to a possible UFC fight with Frank. He had said in an interview that it might be a possibility. Also as he bulked up? I saw a photo and he really looked more like 220-230 than 200lbs.

I have heard that Bas had a seriously-torn bicep muscle shortly after his fight with Randleman, and then decided to go into acting. He has no plans for a come-back at this time.
Andreh would know more than me though. He is good friends with Bas and Oleg. |

As far as I know, Ronin is right. Bas is doing well with his acting career, so I dont think an NHB comeback is in the near future. I think that injuries from a lifetime of fighting caught up with him just as his career was starting in Hollywood so he made the best decision to go the acting route.

If/when you guys come to LA, Bas should be one guy you go train with.
Besides being a great motivator, he makes his classes fun, yet tough. So tough that you shouldn't eat a few days before training. just kidding. I've met many people in the MMA/NHB and BJJ and Bas is one guy that stands among the many that just loves life. But I wouldn't go to a bar and have drinks with him.... if you don't know the stories, fu gedda bow det. |

Bas is at Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club.
for info: www.bhjjc.com/pancrase.html I used to train there and stopped in a few days ago to say hello. The owner, Marcus Vinicius' wife is pregnant and expecting their child any day now. Bas' class are fun, yet very tough.......he changes his routines every so often and I am not sure what he does now, but for warm ups, he would do a circuit training, assign each spot a different routine, from punching to kicking and everything in between. All no Gi training. |
