I just saw Renzo vs. Henderson, absolute BS! I was under the impression Henderson actually hit Renzo before he was knocked out, but it wasn't the case at all. Renzo shoots, hits Henderson in the ab with his head while Henderson sprawls, and thats that. Renzo is knocked out. Henderson then barely touches Renzo with a punch and Renzo is obviously out and he throws another one which rocks Renzo even harder. There should be a rematch, this was BS.

So Henderson hit Renzo with his stomach and he goes out, ROTFLMAO!!!! He must have bought that abs of steel video to train for this fight. How embaracing for Renzo, getting knocked out by the dreaded stomach butt.

yea, it's pretty bad when you knock yourself out. Henderson's abs must be pretty hard then. I didn't see the fight though.

It did actually look like Renzo was out before the punches! I think his head went into hendersons knee when Henderson sprawled!

I dunno...it kinda looked like that to me...

whatever though...I wasn't too interested in the outcome of this fight anyways...

I like all the funny ab-jokes. I guess you guys know nothing about fighting considering having something so trivial as the wrong mouthpeice can make a connection like that full on with your head good enough to pass out. Either way, I'm not making excuses for Renzo, it was a joke because everyone on this board now thinks BJJ is dead because Renzo is smaller and less of an athelete than Dan Henderson.

Default Oh of Course

It wasn't the fact that Renzo has terrible technique when he shoots. It wasn't the fact that Renzo has no chin. No it can't be anything related to BJJ it was just dumb luck that lost him that fight.

Default Watch the footage again

Actually if you watch the footage, pay attention to Dan Henderson's right hand. He hits Renzo right in the chin just as he's shooting in. It has nothing to do with abs, hips, or anything else people have been reporting. Sure, it's not the finish everyone was expecting, even Henderson was a little surprised, but it was a clean knockout.
I find it funny that everyone thinks that somehow this makes Dan's win worthless and that Renzo deserves an instant rematch. Have you seen the first part of the fight? Handerson just walks through everything Renzo did to him, and had very little trouble stopping Renzo's shoots. Dan was even able to score several knees and punches beforehand. It may have been a cumulative effect that sent Renzo out for good.
Either way, Dan Henderson is the first man to cleany knock out a Gracie, so how about giving him some much deserved repsect?
I'm not a big Henderson fan, but his record speaks for itself despite a few decisions that could've gone either way. It's not as though anyone has ever really kicked his ass. His only loss to Silva could've potentially been stopped, and in the UFC likely would have been.
People then bring up the whole "weight" thing, but look at Renzo next to Henderson, they're pretty much the same size. According to people at the weigh-in, Henderson was only around 7-10 pounds heavier. It's also not as though that if Dan had been lighter that the fight would've changed. Both guys have a style and a strategy, and weight differences aren't going to alter it. Watch Renzo's fight with Oleg. Had Oleg not just walked up to Renzo (on his back) with his hands down, the same thing may have happened. Oleg narrowly missed a few decent punches in that fight and had the same idea as Henderson, but got caught in Renzo's game. Henderson, on the other hand, simply backed away intelligently. Props to Dan, and Renzo for taking the fight, but let Dan have some credit for once?

Cool

Dan is a headhunter.Catching your head on a takedown is one of his favorite moves. When he goes to wrap the head he always goes under with a punch. He showed us this at a seminar and said it is a good way to get the chin up so you can get the neck.He even explained that you may get lucky with that punch. Why just reach in?
But,once you get the head wrapped, bury the head in your abs to help control it.He did it just like he showed us.Just that he caught Renzo with the punch.
Thats why guys who train with him always go home with sore necks.
After his last seminar, half the guys had stiff necks from all the head work and head control exercises.
Where the head goes, the body will follow.
I was hoping to see Dan and Renzo on the ground for awhile myself.I would like to see more of the submission stuff Dan has been working on.

I disagree. That was not a punch. He was grabbing a front headlock. The only thing I can figure that happened was that Renzo's spine was compacted during the impact, and that knocked him out. This kind of thing happens a lot in football games.

Has Renzo made any comments or been interviewed as to what happened?
