BJ Penn here show an open guard and a sweep from that guard.
This guard and sweep are pretty basic but VERY effective. People often forget how good basic moves can be. It work for both GI and NO GI. You should really give a try to that technique. More videos at http://bjjtech.free.fr |

I like the follow-up sweep to this one.
Their counter is going to be to step back with the leg that you have hooked. When they do that, you release your hook and switch your feet. The foot that was hooking behind their knee goes on the hip on the same side as the ankle you are grabbing. At the same time you take your other foot off their hip and put that leg between theirs. Then you push-pull with your hand grabbing the ankle and the foot that is now on their hip while reaping their supporting leg (the one they stepped back with) with your other leg. |
