Default Hughes V Gracie

Hey guys,

I wasn't able to see the Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie fight. Can anyone fill me in on how the fight went and who won? Thanks

Well, that's a VERY old fight we're talking about. Hughes beat the crap out of Royce and then submitted him with an armbar.

Yeah seriously...have you been living under a rock?

But he had Royce in a real bad armbar, but he let it go, and decided to just bash his head in instead.

Rez,
Hughes took it to a game but overmatched Royce. Royce showed his usual disregard for pain and inferior position when Matt applied a cross-body straight arm bar. Hughes abandoned the hold out of respect (according to post-fight interview), took Royce's back and rained down shots until the stoppage. Royce was nonplussed by the result and said he would like to return to the Octagon in the near future...Royce is a fine fighter, a much better competitor (meaning his heart is infinite) but at the end of his fight career. I wish him the best and hope he will continue to bring his skill to the sport through teaching.

Yeah man, some you win and some you lose. he led the way when the UFC first started getting popular and demonstrated to the world the need for a good ground game

Obviously things adapt as time goes on and people learn and respect BJJ or grappling before they enter these kind of tournaments now!
