...and it went great. It was the first MMA event in our city and the response was overwhelming, tickets sold out two days in advance. I personally had to tell probably fifty people who came by the school that we were sold out, whcih means we probably had to turn away as many people as we let in. Still, we brought in as many chairs as we could to and attempted to let everyone we could safely and legally allow into the civic center to come enjoy the festivities. I worked as ring security/cage locker/assistant state boxing commission pacifier, and it was an incredibly stressful yet satisfying job. Of our five fighters competing, four won by TKO, ref stoppage due to strikes. The other fighter was ahead on points but got caught in a well executed triangle/armbar. We're incredibly proud of all of our guys.
The main event featured Steven "Sharpshooter" Williams, a Renzo Gracie BJJ Blackbelt from the Bronx, New York, vs. Anselmo Martinez of Eagle's Nest Martial Arts out Lubbock. Despite a strong third round by Anselmo, Steven won a decision. Both fought a great fight. |

Good Stuff, Britt!
You'll have to video these things and sell the tapes afterwards. Sometimes the local shows are great resources for coaches and athletes to scout lesser-known competition. That in turn raises the level of the game, and you get better shows! Plus, I'd like to buy one. ![]() |

My thoughts the day of: "crap, I was planning on buying a video camera for this and forgot!"
Come to think of it, though, one of our odd requirements for sanctioned fights is that there have to be two video projections of the fights for people to watch so they can see the action clearly at all times. Surely it would be possible to get tapes of the projections, right? Anything that can bring the bottom line up would sure be welcome. Where would you sell them, on the school website? |

I'd promote them at the event, and take pre-orders at the door if people want to purchase. Also put them up on whatever promotional website and fight posters you have. After the fights, you can put them up here, too. You're a long-time contributor and I don't think anyone would see it as spam.
