There's no doubt in my mind he juiced for this one, too. He's just going to be smarter about the tests. Athletes who juice for performance get attached to it, and they often don't feel they can do as well without the stuff.

I feel that BJ Penn has superior stand up and ground game compared to Sherk. Even though the new BJ Penn these days actually has a work ethic and much better cardio than the "Lil' Buddha" days, Sherk Definitely trumps him in cardio. My prediction, If it's the first 2 rounds, BJ. Later rounds, Sherk.

I think it depends on many factors. One thing is for certain, Sherk's strength and cardio conditioning are superior to BJ's. In BJ's past two fights he has been is good condition. Sherk is always in GREAT condition. I don't believe I've ever seen BJ in great condition.
BJ Penn has excellent jiu jitsu and stand up. Sherk is an excellent wrestler with good ground and pound and a lot of explosiveness. Sherk's stand up is also very very good. Both of these guys have knockout power. The one nullifying element I see between the two fighters is that Sherk is extremely hard to submit, primarily because of his body type. Sherk has defeated many great jiu jitsu practitioners such as Nick Diaz, Kenny Florian, and Hermes Franca. As far as Sherk's steroid allegations are concerned I don't believe he used them. His camp is a well respected camp with well respected trainers like Greg Nelson and Erik Paulson. I think Sherk is just naturally built the way he is; not to mention he does his strength and conditioning at API which is one of the toughest conditioning facilities in the United States. BJ Penn is also an excellent fighter with a lot of experience. BJ has been more active in the past year than Sherk has because of the steroid allegations however, I don't expect that to be a deciding factor. Regardless of who wins this fight they are both phenomenal fighters and are forces to be reckoned with in the lightweight division. |

Sherk used steroids. Nobody gets caught by accident. The only false results you get with steroid tests are false negatives. He definitely will be on them again, just this time he won't get caught. Steroids are a part of top level sports, you can't get rid of them and you can't stop people from doing them.

Besides, if Sherk knowingly and willingly took the Nandralone Deca, he would have also known that it stays in your system for up to 12 months. It also is not that effective of a steroid compared to other steroids. I dont know if you guys have watched his interviews, but he is very sincere and honest when he says he had never heard of Nandralone and did not knowingly take it. Not many people could just lie in front of the camera and everybody without it showing. But the fact is, that the tests results proved he had a illegal substance in his system. Doesnt mean he's gonna juice for this fight against BJ Penn, thats retarded. |

I gotta go with the Prodigy, physically he doesn't look impressive, but the Man has fought some of the best in the game. People said negative things about Anderson Silva too, and that he wouldn't be able to match Dan Henderson's power and that he didn't match up well with Dan physically.

Sherk, purely personal preference because he is from the Greg Nelson/Erik Paulson camp. I have watched him train, and he is one of the few fighters in the UFC to have what I would call very good hands. And his grappling ain't exactly bad either.
Below is a great vid, Nelson feeding Sherk on the pads. Look at the mechanics on those hands, the head and body movement, and that killer shoot. V good stuff....
And the fact that he or any UFC fighter is juicing, was met by me with the same stunned horror as when someone told me I wasn't going to win Miss World.

Seems we know who is favored to win but the fact is one man has to lose, the other will win.
I chose Penn because the guy is a class act. Hope to see a good technical game but wouldn't put money on either man... We will see... I'd like to see Penn take him down, lock a knee out and make it look easy... Or vise verse... In fact it might be sweeter to see Penn lose by a swift submission. I could see it ending by a quick KO too. A few seconds into the first round... Who knows?Should be interesting...
