Default Situation IV

Ok....

Somehow or other you have found yourself on the mat/ground/floor/etc. You are on all fours or in a sort of 'squatting' kneeling position (like seiza).

Your opponent is behind you, not directly 'on' you but half kneeling behind with two hands on your back.

........go!

again, id have to use the same strategy i would in situation 1. i would once "again use the sudden flexation of my muscles to defeat my attacker in this position. see, if he has his hands on my back before i have chosen to fully flex my huge back muscles, he will be caught completely off guard once my large trapz flex suddenly, hitting his body and his hands like car air bags inflating on impact. its going to knock him back with intense kinetic energy. once i feel his body get knocked back by the flexation of my huge, dense trapz and lats, i can do a foreward judo roll and get to feet and decide what course of action will need to be taken then.

some of you will ask, " well what if he has grips??" " what if he has underhooks or a body lock????" well think about it. if my lats and trapz are big enough to knock him back the moment i flex them, that is going to do 2 things to my attacker if he is that close to me and holding on tight. first off, the flexation of my traps alone could break facial bones/ injure his neckl if he is leaning his head on my back. it can be like car whiplash, he will release his grip once my trapz have fully flexed and caused his head to whip back so fast and with such force. the other scenario is, that my trapz and lats flexing together at the same time will simply make it impossible for an opponent to get both arms around me, when my trapz and lats are fully flexed i become so much bigger in size that most men just do not physically have the arm length to achieve a body lock over my densly muscled body.

You know, jubaji put up some great threads with these situations. Everybody bitches that he doesn't contribute, and he's done at least five threads in 24 hours that could be really thought-provoking, idea exchanging threads.

And all he gets for doing exactly what you've all asked of him is flack?

Roll forward and catch him in an inverted body scissors?

(I don't really wrestle)

Spin round, get to your knees, and go for the double?

(as will probably be apparent from my undoubtedly dumb-ass suggestions, I don't wrestle and have no grappling training other than a bit of BJJ...)

"Optional-Start" position eh? .

I'd probably froggy hop to make some space and then immediately turn to face him in guard.

I hope you'll come back and give us some pointers? Techniques and wrestling jargon (Terminology?) Sure fire ways to negate the advantage of position, surprise the opponent or secure the superior position?

I'm thinking I'd try to turn into him and sweep him or attack his legs... First so I'm not just defending some "turtle" position and also I've always been aggressive rather that trying to stall for time.

The forward roll to trap him into a body scissors would be cool though...

And that's very true. Just be aware that it severely limits one's ability and credibility when griping about how jubaji "never contributes anything useful."

You lend an awful lot of creedence to the argument, "Yeah, I tried to contribute and got drummed out for it."

Tactical vs. strategic, I guess...

That's pretty much what I was thinking, except I'd try to bounce back up to my feet as soon as possible.

Only reason I didn't want to stand up is because if I try to stand up and face him he'd already be right up in my face (assuming he's rushing me) the second I turn around and my balance would be way off from trying to stand up in such an awkward position. Since my balance is off and I'm not 100% sure of his exact body position he'd be able to land some surprise punches without me being able to block too well. And of course as we all know, it's the punches that you don't see that do the most damage. In the end, if he rushes me while I'm trying to stand I'd probably be knocked back down from either his barrage of punches or just his bum rush in general.

Of course if my specialty were striking or if I felt that it was in my best interest to stay standing I would still seek to go to my feet. However, I'd still seek to turn and face him in guard with a froggy hop first just so I know exactly where he is, what his intentions are (is he trying to rush me?), and regain my composure. From there I would stand up when I feel I have the opening.

Just my 2 cents .
