Circle toward the side of your free arm and then either (i) drop your level and go for the throw or takedown or (ii) try to take your opponent's back?

I'm not quite getting the positioning. How is he holding me again?

try making them "fall over you". instead of thinking about lifting a person and literally throwing them, think more about a guy walking into a bench or log. his legs get blocked off and he falls over for example. or if you get fast enough, you can catch his foot as he is stepping, before it actually lands on the floor, allowing sweeps to take place effortlessly.

footsweeps, trips and things like that.

put on a gi and train in jiu jitsu/judo.

i can do a double leg takedown okay, and I can do this one jits move where you kick the foot closest to you, those are fun. but mostly i like them because i'm like obsessed with side control lately. i've gotten good at holding side.

i'm doing no-gi submission grappling for now but in september when i have two jobs i'm gonna switch to jits. can't afford it right now.
