In the 77 - 87 Kg class they have a Japanese judo player named Kikuta Sanae scheduled to go against Saulo Ribeiro in the finals. Does anyone know who this guy is? Is he strictly a judoka?

Isn't that the same guy that fought Renzo in pride 2 ? (PS, Saulo is a judoka too...so either way, it's a victory for judo)

Ok. He's a Pancrase fighter. That makes more sense.

A lot of your instructors probably don't tell you this, but the Brazillian brand of jujutsu is not alltogether different from judo. I think this is proving to be true by the high placement of this judoka in this competition.

    Karl,

I think it was a brain fart. I still seem to be suffering from jet lag. I'm sure the exhaustion I'm feeling has nothing to do with the drinking I've been doing since I got back. I noticed that Yano-san, the guy that runs the jiu-jitsu club you visited here, lost to Soca again this year. Must be his arch enemy. LOL.

    TracyKarate,

He's a Pancrase fighter so it proves nothing. Not that one fighter's performance proves anything anyway. And the Brazilian brand of JIU-JITSU is quite different from judo. I know, I know, same origin, many of the same techniques, but the rules of each made the two sports evolve in different directions.

In any case, Kikuta won his division and upset Saulo, this is a huge upset.
