Program Administrator II
(Combative Sports Assistant Administrator)
$35,100 annually

Job Description

The Assistant Administrator is responsible to the Combative Sports Administrator and assists with the inspection, investigation and coordination of activities to ensure compliance with the Texas Combative Sports Act. The Assistant Administrator performs moderately complex program administration work, including performing initial reviews of proposed combative contests to ensure safe, competitively equal matches; monitoring and evaluation of combative sporting events; training, developing, assigning and monitoring the activities of TDLR inspectors and independent combative sports inspection contractors; training and evaluating the performance of ring officials; developing and maintaining contact with counterparts in other states, the federal government, other agencies, local governments and industry groups to develop and recommend solutions to common problems; responding to inquiries regarding the combative sports statutes, rules, Department policies and technical program activities; and representing the Department in informal conferences and administrative hearings. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Minimum Requirements

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years experience inspecting or administration of combative sports events, or the administration of a similar governmental program. Must be thoroughly familiar with the Texas Combative Sports Act and rules. Bilingual applicants preferred.

Remarks

Extensive travel in personal vehicle will be required. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, with some overtime. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide friendly, caring service to fellow employees, licensees and the general public.
