Case in point: Light guy, low strength, very high endurance, good technique, very high flexibility.

How does he defeat a bigger stronger juijitsu guy who lacks endurance and flexibility? What is the best strategy?

And don't just say use his endurance, wait till his opponent tires then finish cause, all too often its too easy to get submitted during this waiting interval!

What is the best fight plan.. this is sport bjj

I, being 130lbs and 18 years of age, like to jump to my guard, pick a target and attack it instead of fighting mass with mass. If I can, I try to go for the backmount by pushing the arm across. Also, another good thing to do is to go for the triangle, that way you can set up for an armbar, or if the guy stacks, a turnover.

The guard is such a complex, controlling position that if that's what you primarily trained in, you could become quite adapt at submitting or turning over even the heaviest guys.

What I mean is,you should be doing what you do in class. You are training under an instructor to be shown what to do.Do what he shows you.
If you are having a problem with a position or certain body style,go to your instructor and tell him and ask for pointers.
I have had to ask for variations of technique during seminars because I am small.Good instructors will know the little things that will help you.
You may be flooded with all kinds of advice on the forum. But,your instructor knows you and how you grapple. So,he should be the one to point out what you may be doing wrong or could do differantly to make things happen for you.You will get more from letting your instructor watch you for ten minutes than you will from advice from people who cant see you.
You may want to check out a class at another school too.See if they do anything different than what you have been doing.
Instructors have favorite techniques and they may not be best for everyone.Sure, you want to know and practice the high percentage moves .But,being small means you may have to use more trickery.Which in my mind ,equates to all those subtle techniques and escapes and subs during transition from position to position.A big strong guy can wrestle you into position ,hold it and work on you.
So,you have to do your escapes and subs in between his taking positions.
Keep sliding out and make him extend.
Never let him settle in a position.
Use your feet to keep pushing his knees out from under him while he is trying to pass.
Most of all,try and grapple with as many guys of the body style you are having problems with as you can.
And ask your instructor to watch you.

Hey Ryan

One of the strategies I'll use to take a bigger guy out of their game and to stretch the match out because his endurance is to pretend like you're playing all offense. What I mean by this is to have a sequence of moves and go from one to the next over and over again. If you just relax....he is relaxing also and he will eventually pass your guard if you don't distract him in any way. The trick is to put him on the defensive to stretch the fight out until he eventually makes a mistake. I like to attack the neck with his lapels, then the arm, then a sweep. You'll find that he'll stay tense and tire much quicker when he's on the defensive.

Default Defeating a bigger stronger Juijitsu guy

Ryan: Excellent post and well said. I'll keep your advice aside for use.

Another individual touched on the topic of endurance. Like I said its all too easy to be submitted to an armlock, foot lock, or choke with a bigger guy using these techniques with full power, while your waiting for him to tire.

Do you try to counter every submissions move? Is this even possible? Imagine having a guy grab your arms and using powerlifting tonnage from his melons of biceps twist your arm into a kimura while you're thinking of a counter ????

Even if you know how to counter, whats the best defenses against the armlocks when your skinny and don't have the strength to resist?

if the guy is much bigger than you and is as smart and asgood as you you will have a problem ...flexibility and endurance might give you a 20 percent advantage but his strenght and size will give him a 30 percent advantage..not good in grappling but in nhb the distance he must create in order to hit you will then give you the space you need to maximize your flexibility and speed so a big guy who takes away all space and lays on you and waits will negate your endurance and your flexibility thats not good ....i would use the endurance to press the attack until someting gives...lots of fakes until space and speed becomes a factor ...
