    Getting started on mma

Hey, im new to this forum. Love mma, been obsessed with it for about six month.

I started boxing about a month and a half ago, and my contract ends in about 4 and a half months. I want to join some mma classes after my boxing has ended (nothing wrong with it, i just figured it'd be good to know how to throw a punch before jumping into mma).

Since my boxing class is only once a week, for an hour-hour and a half. Ive been running 3 miles every other day...doing jump rope for 5 min before boxing, along with push ups, shadow boxing, sit ups, then box for about 20 min on my punching bag.

My question is, what should i do now to help get me prepare for mma, like weight lifting, change my diet, box less, box more, any respose is appreciated.

    thanks

    Hmmm....Learn how to grapple?

If you don't, you're setting yourself up for a major disappointment.

mma is evil, tai chi is the way.

    Welcome aboard, mate.

Crossfit has been the latest fad lately so it doesn't hurt to check it out. My friend said it actually improved some of his exercises (pullups specifically) by a lot. He started out only doing 12 pull ups then exponentially increased to 48.

As the prior poster stated. Some form of HITT. Running 3 miles a day is all well in good but you've got to up the intensity. How fast are your running those 3 miles?
