Thumbs down Barret extremely disrespectful to Royler!

I just read Barret Yoshida's interview at ADCC and he acts like such a sore loser. He says that Royler just ran away the whole time, he know's he is really #1, the rules are bad because they allow someone who runs away to become a world champ, and it's really lame of him. Totally not classy or respectful.

Default How Ironic!!!

Didn't the Gracies use to say that about every fighter that existed at one point in the time. Now, it's the Gracies who are running!

There might be some validity to Barret's statement. Afterall, he submitted everyone with the exception of Royler. The guy continuiously attacks from guard. Royler, on the other hand, is a sports jj man, and they are known for having a fighting strategy geared for points and not finishes.

later on dude.....

funny how baret says something about everytime he went for submission royler just backed away. WELL...what's royler supposed to do just hand baret his arm??? baret did come across kinda lame in that interview. if you read roylers interview he simply states that he knew barets game and what he had to do to win.

Maybe some Gracies have used that "running away" excuse but Royler is always respectful and classy in interviews and to his opponents. Barret didn't need to act so immature, total sour grapes man.

My attitude is: if Baret's so damn superior, he should be able to cut through Royler's defenses. True, this doesn't make for an exciting fight (trust me, I have the first one on DVD)--but them's the rules in this particular tourney.

I'm hearing a guy frustrated by an awesome defense.

Talking

Baret has an extremely strong guard. He was nailing good Black Belts when he was a Blue if they tried to fight him from inside his guard. From what I got, Royler was backing out of his guard. For many, this is their first step in passing the guard. I haven't seen the fight, so I'm not sure what Baret is calling "running away" but if its backing out of the guard, I don't see it as running away.

When a Gracie opponent plays defensive and won't sit in the guard and offer his arm, he's a chicken (Royler vs Sak).

When the roles are reversed we're expected to admire Gracie tactics.

You gotta love the ole Gracie spin machine. These guys should be in DC instead of Torrance.

Royler has always been respectful of his opponents, I wouldn't ever accuse him of bad talk. There are some Gracies that have proven themselves to be poor sports but I wouldn't include Royler among them.
