Royce Gracie at Gracie Academy of Miami Last Night

I got a chance to meet Royce last night at Pedro's school. Jesus, the guy looks even skinnier in person. He is a very nice and personable guy. We started the class off with Royce teaching us a technique which causes your opponents legs to spread wide open until he taps. I guess you can call it a groin stretch. It was really cool. He then taught us a very simple and illusive calf lock which was very painful. As if that wasn't enough, he taught a very simple and effective neck crank which was one of my personal favorites. He was very meticulous and a great teacher. He didn't just teach us 15 moves that we would end up forgetting by the end of class. I would say that he taught a total of 4-5 moves but we drilled them for about two hours. I can honestly say that I walked out of there with the moves ingrained in my mind. At the end of class, he picked the schools best purple belts two roll with him. His gracefullness was incredible. He would just flow from one position to another. He is incredibly focused. I felt like I was back at the 1st UFC, looking at the look of determination on Royce's face. He truly is like an Anaconda. Thursday will be the open class at 7:00, in which anyone can attend. I can't wait to see what he has to offer on Thursday.
