Talking UFC was AWESOME!

The matches that stood out in my mind....

Nick Serra and Shoney Carter was a war!!!! All the submissions that Serra tried made the match exciting as hell on the ground. He was very smooth and technical. Shoney Carter took it to him and he weathered the inital storm and gave him TWO spinning back elbows/fists. Awesome KO by Carter!

Semmy Schilt and Pete Williams was a good match. Though I expected Pete Williams to win, I never ever saw such ground control from the bottom from Semmy. Its amazing. And this was the first MMA fight ever where I saw a fighter go down sucking wind from a body shot. Anyways, I was pleasently surprised by Semmy's win.

Chuck Lidell and Kevin Randleman was pretty damn short. LOL Randleman was so pissed after his match. He is one intense indivisual. But I thought he was being a little bit whiny and not to mention a poor sportsman. Oh well, I never liked him anyway. Props to Lidell for taking it to him. Looks like he shook up that division. That left hook was sweet!

I was so happy to see Carlos Newton come through and beat Pat Militech. He was getting pretty frusterated in his attempts, but his shots and takedowns were pretty clean and he got most of his attempts. And that headlock/choke that Militech tapped out o shows how everything is coming back to the basics. That move is a basic basic grappling move that regular people do out of instinct when fightin close together. I never ever imagined that I see that move used sucessfully. I guess when you have so much to think about, anything can happen. Too see Militech tap to that, was surprising. Such a basic move.....but damn it was in TIGHT!

Pedro Rizzo and Randy Couture. I really did think Rizzo won this bout. However he did not win in a convincing enough matter. So I guess Randy sort of wins by default. Rizzo was getting some shots in the latter rounds, but he was NOT HURT. Not to mention he managed to sprawl on most of Coutures shots and bruise him up with the leg shots. OUCH! I really admire Rizzo's heart though, he was on the bottom for 2-3 min. taking hard elbows and punches, but was able to weather the storm. I cant believe that he survived from that onslaught! His chin and heart are ROCK hard. I really feel bad for him, I hope one that he will become the UFC heavyweight champ!!!!!

I felt bad for Petey and Pedro on this show. I know you said you never seen such ground control from the bottom as Semmy's, I was thinking I've never seen such terrible ground skills. I think Petey was intimidated or else he would've tooken him down a lot more and subbed him easily. Oh well, Semmy won so I guess excuses can't be made. Pedro was robbed pretty bad I thought, I think Couture looked like he was going to give up plenty of times in the fight and 4 or 5 times it looked like he couldn't get up on his own. Pedro on the other hand was fatigued, but he still was fighting strong the whole fight, and thats why I gave it to Pedro. The American judges are pretty biased towards All-American wrestlers, and I think that proved it right there. Anything involving Dan Henderson in the arena seems to end up in a bad decision. Matt Serra looked awesome and I have a feeling he's going to be a force. Inexperience was pretty apparent in this fight. Shonie never gets his due props before a fight and he always finds a way to win, the guy is nuts. He really looked like he was out of his league in the first round, and then he just kicked ass. Great performance. At least one of our beloved BJJ guys won, go BJ!

And finally, the reason this night was so magical for me. Both Randelman and Miletich lost. I know there was no way for Pat to lose as quickly as Randelman because he's way too good of a fighter, but I just wish he would've been emberassed just as bad. Oh well, he was a real good sport after the match and it made me hate him just that much less. I guess Pat is no longer a least favorite fighter of mine even though he's still as boring as anyone. Randelman on the other hand, hahahahahahahaha! Me and my friends cheered like it was the end of the world or something. Chuck Liddel is the man! I can't believe people actually predicted him to win.

Well from the ground control, I meant how Semmy was able to control Pete's wrists, that was incredible. And Semmy's legs were so long that his guard kept Pete REALLY far away from Semmy. I have to agree though, all the skill that Semmy showed on the ground is because of his size.
