Today, I had a private session with my trainer. It was 2 hrs of hell. He gave me drills that he had recieved from the track star Donavan Bailey, I think his name was.
It was all plyometrics, stuff like jump squats, and alot of that explosive jumping stuff, sprinting and stair climbers . Then after about 45 min, we did 15 min of abs with the medicine ball which involved him throwing it at my stomach then me getting the ball and throwing it back up. Then after we got in the ring and I had just my mouth piece and a light headgear. He directed me in the corner and told me to only block the punches, he f*uckin drilled me for 2 rounds. After he brought out the thai pads and he told me to do a roundhouse then turn to the right side, where he kicked me in the liver. We did 20 reps of this and after ten, I started falling to the ground after he kicked me. Finally he did another drill where I would just stand there and he kicked me in the stomach with different kicks. Finally he told me that we were done, and as I was trying to catch my breath I asked him what kind of conditioning if any was necessary for my shins. He then goes "Ah, I knew I forgot something!" He dragged me to the chair and told me not to move, he tried to look for a stick, but couldnt....but my stars, he found a 5 lbs dumbell instead!! And he held onto me and dragged that cursed piece of metal hard as he could down my shins, about 20 times up and down...after the left, he did the right. After I got out of the showers he told me " Never do this drill, its bad for you. You never should really need any conditioning other than the thai pads and the heavy bag. Guess i had to find out the hard way! This Friday, he told me that he is taking me to a park to run the "hill" Today was a really important day in training for me because I have finally realized what its like to take part in such a demanding sport. It was a test of my heart, and supposedly it is going to be 10x worse. I have no idea how I can handle this, I actually considered quiting, thank god it was only a fleeting though. I hope I will never ever quit, because after this, I know I will become a better person. Have any of you people considered quiting training when you have started ? How did you get past all that and find the heart to move on?? What was your hardest class like?? On a brighter note, my gym is OFFERING SHOOTFIGHTING. I think someone from above is listening to my prayers.....all I need now is more money!

I was about to reply telling you to get the hell away from this Muay Thai trainer the minute I read about your little dumbbell shin exercise thing...but then I read down a little further. He seems like quite the practical joker. But hey, if he used dumbbells against your bare shins extremely hard just to fukk with you, then you may want to keep your eyes open in case the guy actually does have a couple screws loose. Other than that, it sounds like he's given you a very personal and effective conditioning program, which is an aspect often ignored by trainers who just want to produce fighters off the assembly line rather than truly do their best to improve every individual. Keep at it and you'll be kicking a$$ and taking names in no time. Then you can come over to the gym I train at and spar with the crazy adolescent hotheads that we got over here, hehe. As I said, keep it up. Once you get your striking skills down then go on to learn submission more in-depth. I think you'll be proud of yourself when you compare your level of skill and toughness to other casual MMA/reality art practitioners. Although there's good number of people who pat themselves on the back for rolling a lot and learning submissions vale tudo strategy, a lot of them have never really conditioned themselves in the striking and sparring department. This is the true measure of whether you are really learning how to fight or instead just practicing a martial art and learning sport submission.

LOL, it may sound crazy Ryu, but I feel really good after I finish. And I also like my trainer very much, and have never ever felt in any serious kind of danger with him. I always feel safe, and I trust him completely. The dumbell thing, that was just mean!

I think your Muay Thai teacher should go out for drinks with my Kung Fu teacher. LOL

Aloha/TV Set,
You seem to use homosexual images in your posts more and more often these days... I don't think Yella is gay. He just trains hadcore; like you wish you could.

I think your instructor is crazy ( a little bit anyways..)
Yeah I like how he's training you hard but that whole thing with the dumbells....then he tells you that you shouldn't do it?!?! What the hell is that? The fact that he did this just as a joke is even more messed up...what if he seriously f#@$ed up your shins....would you think it was funny then??? stick around if you want to...just be careful....he sounds like the kind of trainer who would break your nose in sparring just so you know how it feels to have it broken....
