For those who may not know, this tournament is to raise money for CrimeStoppers Youth Wrestling league ... getting kids on the mats and off the streets.

So far the response has been really positive. We really appreciate all of the offers of support and the suggestions to help make the tourney run even smoother. THANKS!

Default ABout the Weights

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have gotta tell you y'all... the support for our tournament has been really great!!
About the weight divisions... For adult men (blue and white belt)... there is a 10+- set up. This means if you weigh 170 you will fight nobody bigger than 180 or smaller than 160 ... the plan is to try to have the numbers in the weight groups evened out so that everybody has good competition. By setting up the wieghts this way we hope to decrease the huge waiting times and disorganization that makes some BJJ tournaments drag on and on (and on and on)... and conversly to ensure that there is some good competition for everybody (My last tournament there were only 3 of us in my weight so I had to fight the same person 3 times!)

This tournament is about good competition, supporting a good cause and having fun-- which is why I am thinking a bit outside the box on the wieghts.
BTW women will have only 3 weight brackets <135; 135-155; 155+-
Purple belt men will have a 12lb +- matches.

On another note --- We have finally worked out some good deals with area hotels--- look for a new topic post about those.
Thanks again for all of the support!!!
