Rolled with a good streetfighter today

I have a good friend who has boxed for some years in Mexico, and has been in numerous street fights. He doesn't have much grappling experience, but has delt with it in fights before.
We rolled full contact today for fun, some striking included, and his experience and strength actually quite surprised me. Getting him down with a double leg he caught me in a guillotine choke, and really had a lot of power. I mounted (still in the guillotine) and waited him out a little, just trying to keep base, and keep on top. I punched him in the ribs a little to try and break the lock but he kept at it, so finally I poked into his side a little with my thumb which made him jump enough for me to get my head out, and work the mount a bit. I finished with a bent arm lock from mount but damn alive the guy is very strong, and a good experienced fighter. If he had known the moves he would really have given me some trouble!
My question though is this. When you are in a guillotine, and you mount to relieve the pressure, is there a better (faster) way to escape rather than waiting him out and jabbing the ribs a little?
If I had panicked even a little I probably would have gotten choked!
    But what's your experiences?

Switch to side control. Then put your leg that closest to their leg over the top of the other one so that your stomach is facing up. Your arm that is closest to the head should be around their neck and put all of your weight onto their throat. They'll start to loosen their grip at this point. With your free hand, shake their wrist down to the mat. You are in a good position for a chicken wing if you can keep it there.

Well you can go to a side control and start striking him whit elbow right in the stomach or ribs (I prefer ribs, easier to break if its break its over) just punish him strike strike and strike again it will hurt him bad. But make sure you block is other arm or he could elbow you in the back of the head and ko you.

From the mount, you can lean forward and drive your shoulder into his throat. Do it right and he will let go.

    LOL!
As Kimura would say "I am a master groin squeezer."

Thanks for the responses guys. I got some good ones at Kungfuonline too.

Bobby Steeles, the forearm choke is okay, but not really an effective technique I don't think. Marcus is right about side control though I think.

Oh well, at least I won

what you do, as always, depends on your personal preference. some people prefer to change position. some people prefer to keep the position. you on the other hand, prefer men.

Water Dragon I think is the only guy who knows what race I really am.

Bobby, I thought you were gonna make an actual post there for a minute, but I guess you don't really know that much about grappling to really talk about it huh? S'ok. I laughed at your joke!

    Later, guys.

Of course I'm right. The all knowing owner of this forum taught me this infallible move many moons ago!

Anyway, you won, so your technique was good enough.

it's really tough to explain the move, but shrimp has the right idea. i find driving your shoulder into his neck/jaw PROPERLY will get him to release right away.

    as always... LMFAO @ mickey...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
