Default Kimbo on Ultimate Fighter?

This will be interesting. Anyone else seen the ads on SPIKE?

Comments?

Yeah I saw them. Either way, they're going to keep Kimbo from fighting for as long as possible to keep the ratings up. As far as getting a career in this sport goes, I think Kimbo is too old to be starting now and missed his chance.

I agree, how old is that guy? The "Internet sensation" will probably pee steroids.

I can't stand Kimbo and hopefully he'll get beaten badly enough that he won't be back but that might be too much to hope for. The heavyweight division isn't looking very good right now. Randy Couture only has so many fights left in him, and from the way Nog got picked apart by Mir I wonder if his skills have kept up with the evolution of the sport. Gonzaga now has a couple of losses in a row and I have no idea what (if anything) has become of Cro Cop's come back. I'm afraid Kimbo might just be good enough to make the grade if only because the division is badly in need of new blood.

I'd like to see Brock Lesnar teach Kimbo some wrastlin!

That's the only opponent that I would root for Lesnar against. If it comes to that I might just stop paying attention to the heavyweights all together

Woah woah woah dude! Lets not get carried away here! Lesnar is a complete dick. Kimbo is still enjoying his 15 minutes of fame and has already been found to have limited ability.....

I just have to question who do you dislike more? I would have thought Lesnar because Kimbo would cop a beating from him.

I don't like Lesnar but i'm willing to accept him as a legitimate fighter, which is more than I can say for Kimbo. Lesnar's behavior at UFC 100 was disgraceful but Kimbo's backyard brawls are far more embarrassing. I think Lesnar might just prove to be good for the sport in the long run but Kimbo will always be a liability.

I'm a nobody in the sport of MMA, although I do enjoy practicing muaythai and BJJ from time to time and watching it as well. As a fan of the sport, I think Kimbo has potential in the medium to long-term. Personally, I'd like to see him change his image - but the PPV markets are going to determine if they like his story/look versus my opinion of him.

Kimbo has demonstrated the fundamentals of MMA - mostly in his fight against Mercer (who KO'd Silva) - but also in a few of his other fights. If he can cut weight, become more explosive, gain stamina and take on a few so-so to decent fighters, I think he'll end up being a pretty good fighter.

Brock Lesnar is certainly a force to be reckoned with. A freaking beast AND talented. He's going to give the heavyweights a run for their money - I see him as the Mike Tyson of MMA heavyweights. Its going to take a really skilled and seasoned fighter to take it to him.

"Either way, they're going to keep Kimbo from fighting for as long as possible to keep the ratings up." agreed!

That guy has charisma, and is tough, but his MMA skills are pathetic (from what I've seen). Has a HUGE cult following though...

If Kimbo is going to make a long-term career out of MMA, his managers and trainers should build him slowly. He beat Tank Abbott - not an MMA superstar and not someone whose going to test a fighter's skill, but stopping Tank shows he has stopping power under pressure.

He beat Mercer. The good thing about this fight is that he didn't try to really play Mercer's game and trade, because Mercer would have beat him quick. Instead he chose to take it to the mat. Good instinct on his part.

They should pit Kimbo against someone of a higher caliber, who will challenge him and make a good fight for the viewers but who isn't so awesome that he won't be overmatched - Kimbo vs. a 210-lb, decent 'technical' Japanese fighter - then Kimbo vs. a seasoned UFC veteran (Ken Shamrock? - they were supposed to fight before) - find Kimbo some worthy sparring & grappling partners to build him more and then pit him against a former UFC champion (Mark Coleman? Pedro Rizzo?).

If he's successful in these fights (or atleast can come to a draw) -then he should be pitted against the current staple of top contenders.

So long as he's got Bas Rutten in his corner, is able to stay focused and is never pitted against someone out of his league, he'll do fine. Kimbo vs. Lesnar fight won't happen within the next 2 years, the way I see it.

The last I'd heard Rutten quit and refused to work with him due to a lack of work ethic on Kimbo's part some time ago.

Found 3 different sources that discuss the issue.

It has to do with Kimbo not following Rutten's training plan and Kimbo disagreeing with what Rutten had to say - Rutten's plan was for Kimbo to work more on grappling; Kimbo disagreed - thinking he could take the fight (against Petrozelli) standing up.

The disagreements of disagreements drove them apart. From what I've seen Kimbo works out pretty hard when he trains.

Eh people are honestly surprised that the sport is dominated by the biggest roid freaks and jackasses and not their favorite sports entertainer?

ROFLMAO It was evident from the get go that's where it was headed.

Either of these clowns would fit right in as the headliner for Wrestlemania, pitting them against each other is probably Vince McMahon's dream.

No argument there my friend.

If Lesnar learns to keep his mouth shut then, yes, he may be good for the sport in the long run.

I would like to see Kimbo fight Mark Hunt. Two solid hitters with limited grappling ability....who will KO who first??
