I've only been doing BJJ for 6 months, but i came across this quote on the gracieacademy.com website under the profile for Rorion
"In 1993, Rorion created and introduced the world to The Ultimate Fighting Championship, a bare-knuckle, no-holds-barred tournament featuring martial artists from around the world. " So Rorion Gracie created the UFC? Also, under "Message from Rorian Gracie" he signs his name "Rorian Gracie, Head of the Gracie Family" I didn't know the Gracies elected a leader.

Yes my friend Rorion created the UFC to showcase Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He strategically chose the line ups for the tournaments and made sure that Royce had an easy opponent in the first round. He made a mistake in UFC3 with Kimo so in UFC4 he let Royce fight Ron Van Clief. When the other partners in the UFC (SEG) wanted to introduce time limits Rorion sold his share and said that Royce would never fight in the UFC again.

The real victor in the UFC was the ninja, Scott Morriss....
I was angry as hell when he was robbed of his blatent and obvious victories over the competition. If there is one man Royce has been avoiding for years, it is definately Scott Morriss... Ryu |

well shimmy... i don't know if rorion actually "hand picked" the fighters as definite victories for royce, but more like he felt pretty confident that royce could defeat any of those guys, since they were one dimensional and knew NOTHING about BJJ, much less basic ground fighting. Plus, they had no real experience with NHB. Royce really didn't either, but he grew up around it all his life and was at least somewhat acostomed to the athmosphere.
also, royce has stated that he had the most respect and some fear of gerard gordeau and also had respect for scott morris too (no shit). and yeah... ufc4 was fixed too... i too would have hand picked dan severn... a wrestler, 80lbs heavier than royce. what a match maker. (pffftttzzzz) bottom line, i don't think he necessarily hand picked fighters... the fighters at that time were just not truly cross-trained or experienced in NHB. no conspiracy here (sorry masala... lol)
