Hi guys.
Well my judo promotion went smoothly, and I am now a brown belt senior judoka. Very exciting for me, but it will mean lots of pain from the black belts LOL ![]() The test was not that difficult because I trained for it for so long. But they did try to throw me off with some stuff I hadn't focused on. The test required me to show almost all the throws in the first, second, and third Kyo (almost all the throws in judo) As well as demonstrate knowledge and skill in groundfighting, pinning, escaping, armlocks, chokes, etc. I was judged not just on my technical skill, but on my randori and such too. All in all things went great, and black belt will be my next goal. ![]() Take care, Ryu

You suck!
J/K. Congratulations, how long did it take you and how long do you think it'll take to get your Black Belt? Also, don't you also do BJJ? If you're in a tournament do you use your Judo a lot or do you think it doesn't help much?

Maybe it's just me, but someone sounds awfully preoccupied with "real men", "boys", and "men" in general. Not that it's a bad thing....
Congrats Ryu. I know first hand what you did was tough. I am nowhere near that level, so I can imagine what I went through and multiply it by 10 or so! Do you ever make it to any tournaments in Utah? Provo or Salt Lake? Those are the big ones for us around here. |

Congrats, Ryu, I sparred with a third dan blackbelt from Italian Judo team, and I growed to appreciate Judo more and more.
For sheer agressivness, explosiveness and actual efficiency I think judo is the most underrated martial art in the world for streetfighting. The perfect addiction for Underdog's arsenal.... |

A real man's sport, huh?
Maeda, the Japanese native who introduced the martial art to the Gracies specialized in Judo. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's technical roots are largely from Kodokan Judo. That being said, it's reasonable to contend that Judo begat Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in a manner of speaking. So............what's my point? JUDO IS BJJ'S DADDY

sabrutat is as foolish as one thousand regular fools.
Pay no attention to his foolish banter. He sits alone in a run down house drinking alcohol and wondering where his life went wrong. He maintains a brave face to his fellow losers but deep down he is a man suffering deep depression. Try to ignore him, he may go away or fall into an alchohol induced coma.
