![]() | i'm looking to invest in a new gi and i wanna splurge a little and get a good one instead of the usual generic gi that costs $40. i'm stuck between the hck and ouano's. one thing about the hck is i don't like how rigid the collar is. the one thing about the ouano is i've never seen one in person, only on the web, but i like the closer fit and shorter top length. i'm tired of the thin baggy gi that gets caught on your toes and starts hanging off of you when you roll. anybody have any opinions? |

![]() | yeah, get some of those cool patches! You can look like a badass boy scout who puts his badges on his pjs! But seriously, some of those BJJ patches are really cool. Why not get two gis, to wear them on alternate days.

![]() | i own an HCK single and double... and have seen and checked out the ouano. with that being said, here's my observation. comparing the singles from each company: hck - thicker collar (a little), the thickness of the body is also a little "sturdier" (thicker). ouano - less expensive. i didn't notice any differences in the skirt lengths. so, with this little informal comparison of mine, i found that you DO get what you pay for. side note: Howard (HCK) assisted John (Ouano) with getting his little Gi producing endeavor started.

![]() | ... wearing both of them is breaking all the rules! (Anyone else have that stupid "torn between two lovers" song in their head when they read this thread? OK, i'm showing my age again!) I wear an Ouano and I'm really happy w/it. The gi is SO good, that I can't imagine shelling out more money for a different gi. |

![]() | Well, I just bought an Ouano blue single a couple weeks ago, and i roll with people that have Howards. I personally don't think there is much difference. I'm comparing the $70 models, so maybe there's more of a difference in the double weaves.

![]() | I would recommend the Ouano either single or double. I have had an HCK single and two Ouano doubles, one white and one blue. the blue one really shrank down. I was huge and now it's too small. I love my white double Ouano. I was training with a guy this week that had an HCK double and the collar is mighty thick. Very hard to choke with this collar. If you want an "edge" against chokes, the HCK's do give you a little "edge." There are other quality gi's on the market but I to buy only an Ouano or an HCK. |

![]() | thanks everyone for the replies. that's what i don't like about the howard's is how thick the collar is. it feels like a car tire. but i guess if i'm the one wearing it, it's a different story, heh! |

![]() | Naw! Join the "Cheap Gi Alliance".....although I've rolled with some guys with HCK's and I was rather impressed. If I were willing to shell out the money I'd go with the Howard's!

| Advanced | Go with Eric at www.atamakimonos.com They have the best gis out there. I've tried Howard, Krugans, and Atama. I've seen all the gis and I Atama the best followed by Koral. I'm not big on Golden Weaves, so I'm pretty biased.
