    My Last Post From Japan!

Well boys, after 3 years I'm finally out of here. It's been the best and worst three years of my life. And I have to say I'm going to miss the place. But I've had enough of the teaching racket and I need to sober up (but with Bird so close by that probably ain't going to happen). Special thanks to Yella, Bird, Sweep, and Karl for helping kill all that free time at work in chat. They weren't the only ones but they were there the most. I'll be back in Seattle, and probably back online on the 5th. Later.

P.S. T-shirts cost almost $40 here so you can all forget about getting one.

Well, what about the schoolgirl? How much are they? Hey, Japan will be one of the most memorable years when you look back. Just like me and Canada. haha

Have a safe trip back and hopefully when you get back to living in North America, you wont forget how skinny you WERE in Japan. Dont get fat!!!

I know what you're feeling (I think). I just finished my last teaching class in Singapore an hour ago, and it's only going to be a couple of more weeks before I'm back in the frozen north. I do have an open-ended return ticket, so I know I'll be back in Asia within the year.

My dilemma - where to go? Korea, Japan, or Thailand?? I'm scouting out Tokyo, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai over the next two weeks.

    Have a good flight!

August 2001! Man, that was a different world back then.

I ended up in Japan - I was in Chigasaki (Kanagawa-ken) for a couple of weeks, then back in Canada until March 2002. Then I worked in Yokohama for six months, back to S'pore for three months, and then Tokyo until April 2005.

    I miss Japan.

Ultra clean cities, drop dead gorgeous women, crazy electronics (15 years ahead of us!) and good eats...I feel your pain, brother!

Yes, yes, yes, and YES! (Although ultra-clean cities is relative).

I miss ramen at 1 am. Cheap high-quality kaitenzushi (conveyor belt sushi). Yoshinoya. Although you can't get gyudon (beef bowl) at Yoshinoya anymore.

There are a few good izakaya in Vancouver though. I'm glad for that.

What I don't miss: Squeezing on to the last train from Ginza to Shibuya, then from Shibuya on the Inokashira line back towards Meidaimae. J pop. Hearing the same !@#$ song in every supermarket's fish section (Sakana sakana sakana! Sakana ga taberu yo! Atama atama atama! Atama something something - at that point I was usually able to jam my fingers into my ears). Earthquakes. Giant monster attacks (shochu hangovers). Summers in Tokyo (when the temperatres in Bangkok, Manila, and Singapore are all COOLER than what it is in Tokyo, you know it's bad!).

    They have resumed selling gyudon.
