    Hijackers trained martial arts

    http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/19/inv.fbi.gym/index.html

apparently they also found martial arts books and things of that nature in their houses..

anyone think this kinda things could lead to the government regulating martial arts practice of the public??

I don't think the government will be able to regulate personal training, whether it be in martial arts or whatever.

But you never know, the media and millions of people, to include the everlasting know it all Rogurt (the Queen of Nice) are trying to ban personal ownership of guns. Regulate the heck out of it so no-one can get it.

    What is a gun?

In my opinion a gun is a tool, one of many in my "tool" box. Similar to hammer, a knife, a saw etc.

What happens when a tool is used?

That depends on the intention of the craftsman, does it not?
If I wanted to I could hammer nails with the hammer, or I could smash in my neighbors head.

I could use a knife (no matter the blade length) to cut my steak into edible pieces, or use it to slit someones throat.

I could use a saw to cut the branches out of my tree in the back yard, or I could use it to to evil things to other people. (I don't even want to explore that option)

So because I can commit evil with a hammer, a knife, a saw or a gun, does that make it evil (or ME evil) because they exist? Or that I have them in my possession?

Man has been killing man since the dawn of time. The tools used cannot be blamed for the evil acts, only the craftsman who wields the tools.

Martial Arts were created and perpetuated to improve the human condition. It is nothing more than a tool for the use of individuals.

However because some people use this tool illegally or imorally, then many will seek to place blame on the tool. They will preach and give wonderous sermons about how the evils of the world can be prevented if we just prevent access to these evil tools.

Guess what? the toolbox will never be empty.

People may try to prevent your access to Martial Arts, but just like drugs, alcohol, and explosives, just because you label them evil and pass thousands of laws against the tools, that doesn't mean they will cease to exist.

C'mon, that's just silly: regulate martial arts because some hijacker might use them?

I think the saddest part of all--I'll bet some of you here feel the same way--is that because they had only knives... well, you want to think if you were there and everybody picked one guy, they could have been overtaken, as they tried to do with the flight that went down in PA.

Who's to say? It probably all went down so fast that people didn't have time to react...
    Are you not entertained?!

WHAT IF GOVERNMENT WOULD MAKE MANDATORY THE TEACHING OF BASIC DISARMING TECHNIQUES AND H2H TO EVERY WOMAN, KID, ELDERLY AND WEAK PEOPLE?

Every time something awful happens with a TOOL (a gun, a knife, martial arts, booze, cigarettes, drugs) the government (every government, for that matter) tries to BAN the tool...

    Damn...

I wonder if the government will try to ban my "TOOL" for knocking my wife up?

Probably not, it's under the 3 inch legal limit.

hey guys, thanks for the responses.. i think you took regulation the wrong way.. what i meant was, people would have to have special certification from a governing body to start to teach or learn..
this was proposed in new jersey i believe, at one time or another..
