Has anyone got to try Krav Maga. If so can you tell me a little about its training methods.

Believe it or not, it is extremely similar to American Kenpo I have cross trained a bit in it and can tell you that all of their self defense techniques are practically identical to the ones used in Kenpo. Their class is very cardio oriented with adrenaline type training. I would say it is overall a pretty good system. But, it has some gaps in terms of teaching motion, certain very important principles, etc. Their gun disarms are pretty good. However, if you've trained at all in Filipino Kali, their knife disarms leave a lot to be desired and are plain dangerous.

Hey kenjeet your just full of information thanks again. I was thinking about doing some savate and kenpo. Savate for the boxing and contact and kenpo for the selfdefense. I hear alot of good thing about savate. What do you recomend.

there is as follows Im not going to do them all of course but here are the options

Kenpo karate classes 2x a week
Gracie jujitsu everyday
Savate 2x a week
PFS JKD once a week

the begining kenpo, and savate ar on thursdays so thats a conflict

the Jkd is once a week on thurdays

give me your opinion

Thumbs up

Looks like you've got it all figured out That sounds awesome. What I would probably do is look for a Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do Concepts instructor that is under Inosanto. The reason I say an Inosanto instructor is because he literally has a curriculum in place for Jun Fan Gung Fu which is divided into 3 components: Kickboxing, which has elements of Western Boxing, Savate , Muay Thai, etc., Trapping, and grappling. He has a very good progression which I think is key for someone wanting to be able to personally take in as much as possible then absorb what is useful and reject what is useless. I would train JKD 2 times a week, Kenpo 2 times a week, and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (with a certified instructor under Helio Gracie) once a week preferrably in a private lesson format if you could. The reason I say Jiu-jitsu only once a week is becuase if you train it in private lessons you advance at an incredible rate. Also, for some reason Jiu-Jitsu just sticks to you. I guess that is because of the constant hands on training. In my humble opinion, if you have trained the other systems, especially Kenpo, you are very adept in absorbing other systems quite easily. I would not do an independent Savate class because if you train with one of the Inosanto guys, you will be getting it as part of the Kickboxing curriculum of JKD Concepts.
