Cool

Erin:

sounds like you have a pinched nerve and a displacement or subluxation in one or more of your vertebrae.

I would suggest a visit to a good/skilled chiropractor.

I've had the same problems

Thumbs down chiropractors

Uh, I dunno if seeing a chiropractor is such a good idea. I have a couple of friends who have seen chiropractors (one from a sports injury and one from a car wreck) that say chiropractors only temporarily solve the problem. You may feel good for a couple days or weeks, but they you'll always have to go back to have them 'fix' the problem again. I was having some back pains a couple months ago, so I consulted my aunt whose a spinal rehabilitation nurse at the University of Washington. She strongly warned me about seeing any chiropractors. She says they only fix the problem enough so you have to keep coming back over and over. She added that some of her patients injuries' were caused by chiropractors. So just be careful!

Well, I'm just saying that I have never heard any GOOD things about chiropractors. Take it for what you will.

Tell your boyfriend to stop putting his weight on your back, that might relieve some pressure

Aaron,
I would have to agree with Jared on the Chiropracter issue. I have been to two different ones with my back injury. The first one... all she did was abuse me. But that's not always a bad thing.

The second did quite a bit better. They were very careful and utilized a lot of Chi Kung. This guy knows his stuff, but still couldn't fix my problem. I had to figure it out myself.

Most (not all) chiropracters like the repeat business. They adjust you so you'll feel better, but you need monthly attention.

I would look into a sports therapist if it continues.

Question: Do you want to spend the rest of your life hurting like this?

If not, maybe you should re-evaluate your training methods and goals?

Not preaching man, just been there and done that.

Take care.

Regards,

SZ

Cool

Regarding a back injury, I'd have to go with previous suggestions to go see a sports physician. The chiropractor visit is only temporary. They won't (can't) tell you how to permanently fix the problem for obvious financial reasons. A sports physician can recommend therapy and/or exercises to fix the problem rather than just giving you an "adjustment."

I have found a good chiropractor to be very helpful. About once every six months I seem to turn a rib head (mid back) I have had the pain intense enough that it hurt to breath hard (sneezing REALLY hurt). If I can get in immediately to see my chiropractor I can walk out pain free and be working out the next day. Without the chiro it can take a week and a half for the pain to dissipate.

I have been to chiros that were total quacks and a menace to society. The one I have now is great.

I used to be a once a month chiropractic customer. After I started doing Yoga (at my chiropractor’s suggestion) I am about a twice a year customer. I don’t know what is up with that, I just know it works. And my spine has been to hell and back.
