Default How long does it take to lose weight?

If I jogged 4 miles per week, and started up a workout program consisting of pushups, situps, and excercises for my arms and legs, approximately how long would it take to cut from 185 lbs to 160 lbs? (Keep in mind that I want to change my beer belly into a sort of 6 pack). I'm starting to eat salads, sandwiches, skim milk, water, and fruits everyday instead of my usual greasy food. Thanks!

You need to run more. 4 miles 3 times a week would do it. Do you have the weight to lose? Without knowing or seeing you it is pretty difficult to give ans answer.

According to some that I have talked to (trained medics and doctors) it is healthy to lose 2-4 pounds per week. Any more than that and your body starts to suffer.

If you are young and working out and eating all the time I don't think it would be a problem. I lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks about 4 years ago. It felt awesome!

If you just started to work out with intensity, you may gain a little weight at the beginning. The muscle mass you gain will be heavier, and your body will store a little more water that it used to. But that should only last a week or two.

This is all conjecture based on things others have said to me. Your best bet is to research it, as always.

Luck,

SZ

Hey, could you share with us how you lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks!! I would really appreciate that! The thing is, that I want to gain muscle, but I want to trim down also. I'm not really concerned about losing 'x' amount of weight, but I do want to cut the fat from my stomach and chest, and start getting a little muscle. I'm not looking to become huge or anything like that, just a slimmer build with even a slight 6 pack. Know what I mean? What did you do to lose 25 lbs in 6 weeks? BTW, I don't think I could be able to run 4 miles 3 times a week. I'm just extremely out of shape, and perhaps I can build up to that, but I would die if I started out doing that.

Cool

You diet will be one of the most important factors in both your health and weight.

Because of medical reasons, I cut out sugar and as much fat as possible out of my diet. I gave up beef and just ate chicken, turkey and fish.
The pounds were just falling off at about 3-5 pounds a week.
Of course you hit the plateau but then start again.

By watching what I eat, along with moderate training, I lost probably half my body fat percentage. I never did measure it before or after but I am just estimating.

I think what you want is to cut your body fat percentage and this is what worked for me.

Oh, and watch what you eat and when you eat. I made it a rule not to eat anything at least 2 hours, but more like 4 hours before I went to sleep.

good luck

What foods should I absolutely stay away from? The foods that I'm choosing consist of the following: Peanut butter & Jelly sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, ham sandwiches, salad with fat free dressing, apples, oranges, bananas, skim milk, and water. I live in a dorm, so it is quite difficult to eat properly. But, I'm sticking with those things. Do you think that is good? I just started this Monday...how long does it take to get results? It's hard to keep up eating non-greasy stuff if you don't see any results for motivation! I will start running about 3-4 miles per week, doing some arm curls, pushups, and sit ups.

PS..I don't want to gain extreme muscle, I just want to cut the fat and get some muscle in replacement...what's the best way?

There are many different theories about dropping your body fat percentage and still train.
Some dudes will say Protein, Protein and more Protein and stay away from any carbs.
I just tried to eat a balanced diet but to watch the sugar and fat intake.

You need to read the labels of everything that you eat, from the peanut butter and jelly, to what type of spread you use for your sandwiches.
Mustard is good, but regular mayonaise has lots of fat grams.

If you do what you say you are going to do, you should start to see results in about a week. You can drive yourself crazy by weighing yourself, but I would suggest you don't.
Use your belt as a gauge. I lost more than 2 inches off the waist and was normally a 34" waist and went up to 36" but got down to 31" for a while but now I'm at 32 which I haven't been since junior high school.

Watch every meal, eat slowly, chew your food (masticate it) and it will make digestion easier.
As said earlier, drink lots of water, no sugary sodas or the other f

ruit drinks.

It may be a temptation to go eat a greasy cheeseburger but the more time you are away from it, the less you will have a craving for anything "bad"

But as with all diets, if you really crave something, don't deprive yourself since that is really tough and you may eventually cave in and go to the opposite extreme and pig out on junk food.
If you are going to a dinner or party, you might want to eat a bit ahead of time so that you don't get tempted to eat the wrong foods.

The worst for me is traveling. Not too many healthy foods on the road, mostly beef, fried foods and junk.

Keep us posted but you should see results soon.

3x /week is good. but i like min 4-5x better to loose 25lbs ASAP. i've lossed as much as 30lbs in 4wks, but i did a fast, so i lose a lot of muscle too.

but if you have time, stay with the 3x/week. the main concern here is if you will loose muscle or Fat. i've experienced muscle loss going above 45min and more than 4 days with my cardio.

Minimize your breads, pasta, rice etc (carbs) during the day, and try not to eat any carbs after 5pm. take a look at the keto diet article, i posted in the Ham sandwich post bro. hope this was helpful.

How to lose weight:

-ephedrine.caffeine,aspirin stack 50 mg 3times/day
-clenbuterol; 100 mcg/day

-at least 45 minutes heavy cardio first thing in the morning, ON EMPTY STOMACH, please.

-cut ALL THE CARBS, including veggies (take vitamins and minerals)

If this fails, start with cytomel or triacana, but for no more than six weeks.

ABOVE ALL: lose all the weight you can without worrying about losing muscle. That is what steroids are for.

Hope it helps, it helped mine big time.

if ya go with the eca/clen, you should alternate the 2 every 2wks. the cytomel is also called T3, (a thyroid drug)..you will have to taper this up and down slowly. i've done several succesful cycles with T3..it works, but you may sacrifice some muscle with it's use. i started at 25mcg and went up to 100mcg, then back down slowly to 25mcg. combining ECA and T3, will shed the bf%. if you mess up with this, you will have to use the T3 for the rest of your life. if you cut out all carbs, you will need to carb up at least 2 days out of the week, or you may not be able to function.
