Causes for this Forum's "Petering Out"...

i really don't have any overall answer... but maybe it was the series of ups and downs (mentioned in a post of the past) that turned people off.

for ME, it was the loss of the avatars...

I expect this forum to pick up soon. With the downward spiral of mma.com into childish nonsense I think the true enthusiasts will be flocking to Mousels to get a breath of fresh air.

Many forums have experienced a downturn. I really think that tim just needs to publicise this place a bit more amd he will see the return of many people.

This place was the first, it will be the last. The pretenders shall fall by the wayside.

There are many reason's why this site could be "petering out".

One of the main reasons is that you have a lot of people (myself included) talking about non martial arts topics.

Another might be that every time someone posts something, they get blasted and called a bunch of names. Instead of having a decent conversation, they just trade shots across the forum. But that's what makes it so much fun....

Another reason is that FlyingClockChoke is a freakin' communist idiot!

But those are just my opinions.

I think the emergence of the Underground Forum and In the Guard Forum took a lot of steam out of Mousel's; especially during the times when Mousel's went offline for weeks at a time.

I hope this forum bounces back, because it is one of the originals
and was one of the best.

I don't know about that; some of the all-time most entertaining threads here since I've been around were off-topic. As long as the exchanges are reasonably intelligent, that keeps people coming back.

True, there's more fish in the bowl now with ITG and such, but this one--at the very least--has been around for quite a while.

Yes, I agree most of the really entertaining posts are about politics, religion and the like. But this is an MA forum. I came here to talk to people about martial arts: techniques, styles, training methods, teaching methods and maybe a little philosophy.

What we find is a bunch of people mouthing off in anonymity about how retarded and useless Szczepankiewicz is.... which I would have to agree.

HOWEVER, this does not encourage the appearance of anyone of consequence in the martial arts world (with a few exceptions) coming here and really mixing it up with us computer nerds...

Of course, most "big shots" in the martial arts will only surface if the money is right. But hey, they gotta eat too...
