I didn't know Goes fought Belfort, but if he did ... YES ... what did the grappling COWARD backpedal "to"? Punches.

What did Vitor quit to? Punches.

What did Coleman quit to? Punches.

What did Royce quit to? Punches/kicks.

See a pattern here, mate?

NONE of these guys ever quit when betwixt another man's legs. As women (oops, grapplers) that is their "home" lying down with another male. They are SAFE there as punches mean nothing at this (grrrr) "close" range.

But make one of the grappling cowards get up off the floor like a bitch, and instead stand up LIKE A MAN and trade a few shots, and (LOL) watch-em start quitting.

Men were not made to lie with one another. They were made to pound each other, and lie with women.

What do you want to do with a wild tiger? Capture and contain him, not fight him. Why? Because we are SCARED of tigers and getting hurt.

Well, same thing with a grappler. He is SCARED of punches and getting hurt, so he tries to "capture and subdue" his more corageous, more dangerous opponent.

And even though the strategy may work, like tranquilizing a wild tiger may work, it is NOT the act of bravery to win in such a way ... but instead it is an act of COWARDICE and NOT wanting to stand up and fight like a man.

And the viewing public knows this, which is why grapplers will never make much money. They don't deserve it for their "safety-first" fighting style.

I agree with Joe, to a point. I definitly believe that striking is the more efficient way to end a fight, FOR THE MOST PART. Sure, I've seen people end fights with grappling techniques in under a minute, but I've also seen lots of fights that were ended by a single punch. I've seen a grappler beat a fighter, but it took ten minutes, meanwhile a good striker beats the same guy in 30 seconds.

But there are always exceptions. Some people just aren't fast and coordinated enough to excel in the striking ranges. One of my training partners is a lot slower and less coordinated than I am and if he tries to trade punches he gets pounded. If he takes me to the ground though, he can use his weight to smother my punching ability. I think both grappling and striking are important. I also think grappling is easier to learn and practice full contact, but striking is more efficient.
