Hello, I am just starting BJJ (as in one class, and now I'm signing up)
I'm interested in pursuing BJJ for awhile. I'm trying to decide what kind of gi I want, so I've scoured the net for reviews. HCK seems to be fairly unanimous, with Atama being second... Now I'm pretty sure I want an HCK, but now my question is whether I should get the single or double weave. What are the advantages to each? I really like the blue color option on the double, so that's influenced my decision a little bit. The cost difference between the 2 is about 50 bucks I believe, and not an issue to me. Thanks. |

Unless you are going to be rolling a lot there isn't need of a double. I bought a single weave a couple of years ago and it has worked great.

I would also look at Ouano's Gi's but if you are sold on the two choices, if I were you, I'd get the double.
But that's me, I like the doubles with the thick collars. But, what ever you choose, you can't go wrong. When I first started Jiu Jitsu, there weren't as many Gi's as there are now. I had a funky Judo gi that had the worst material. I still have it hanging in the closet, to remind me of my beginnings. I had a blue but I sold it and will probably stay with whites. Much easier to wash. I really abuse my HCK's and Ouano's in the wash, and they keep coming back, no problems with them. |

Definetly get a double. It makes it much more difficult for your opponent to establish a firm grip. I got a Ouano single, it's good, but I want something thicker for competitions and maybe some judo. I'll probably get an HCK double.
