I'm a big-time BJ fan, but to say that he deserves a rematch for an armbar that Pulver tapped out to AFTER THE BELL is ridiculous!!! Jens won the fight fair and square and BJ should have to earn another shot, which he undoubtedly will. Let's face it, most people underestimated Pulver and it cost!

He deserves a rematch, but not because he tapped Pulver after the bell. That was a close fight. BJ's best chances were on the ground, but he was too tired to take it there in the latter rounds. Pulver was ineffective on the ground and no match for BJ.

I was very surprised to see how effortlessly BJ was taking Pulver to the ground and keeping him there. It was refreshing.

1) BJ did an excellent job on the takedowns.

2) BJ did not dominate the ground game like I thought he would, especially as the fight wore on.

3) Giving someone a close fight doesn't necessarily warrant a rematch. There are other guys who deserve a shot. What if BJ gives him close fight after close fight? Should we just let them keep fighting each other? Let someone else have a shot while BJ destroys some other contenders, thereby earning his rematch.

Mr. Dog,

Close matches by themselves are not what constitute rematches. Crowd pleasing is a bigger factor. Fight fans want an explosive champion, i.e. BJ. It would be a mistake not to have Pulver fight BJ before the two of them fight others.

I have a lot of respect for Pulver, but in his own words, he's not flashy. BJ will do much more for the sport and Zuffa than Pulver.

Zhoo, although I disagree, your point is valid. I'm sure a rematch would be much more action packed and I wouldn't argue against it. I would normally prefer to see a "flashier" champion. However, Jens impressed me so much with his heart and determination that I wouldn't mind seeing him hold on to the title.
