![]() | Ya, you need to go see a doctor. I've drained my ear before but it was never as bad as your describing. You should see a doctor right away before it gets worse and you end up with ears like Wallid Ismael. Plus chicks really don't dig ears that look like dog chews.

| Novice | Treatment for Cauliflower Ears: To prevent the blood between the skin and cartilage from hardening, the blood from under the skin must be drawn out by use of a hypodermic needle. In order to restore the ear to normal thickness and contour, it may require several aspirations before the hemorrhage is finally checked. Because of the danger of infection if the needle is not properly sterilized, it should be done by a physician. Once the swelling has been relieved by the removal of the fluid, pressure must be applied to keep the skin and cartilage of the ear pressed tightly together. This is done with built-up layers of collodion and cotton filing the auricle of the ear. While preparing these applications, pressure must be kept on the ear or there will be a rapid influx of fluid which will have to be removed before applying the collodion treatment. This pressure must be kept on the ear for some time and every precaution must be taken against re-injury. I hope this helps, even though you have trained it already. |

![]() | Mad Maxx - Call me shallow, but please have your ear attended to by a competent person properly trained for this type of injury. The previous poster may use his battle scars to boost his self-image. From a guy's perspective it might seem "cool" to have physical proof of one's combativeness, but most women won't be so easily impressed. You don't have to be shallow to wonder why a guy always looks like he's been on the wrong end of an ass-whooping. Or whether his combative nature will be turned on you, if you do decide to overlook an obviously self-inflicted (by virtue of participation in the fight) disfigurement as opposed to one that is accidental or congenital. I question the wisdom and logic of allowing yourself to be permanently disfigured when you have the option of medical treatment to avoid it. It may seem like a good idea now, but ten years down the line, you may be seeking plastic surgery to reverse a condition that could have easily been treated. Not to mention that it may keep you from being considered for certain types of employment, in addition to social relationships. janet dtantirojanarat www.warriorwoman.org
