ok, who would win. someone who has fought like once or twice in their life with other school yard brawls, against someone who has trained in jiu jitsu for about 6 months? like im talking a street fight here. do you think a person with jiu jitsu training would probably win? have you ever encoutnered anything like this? did you ever see someone break another guys arm doing a arm bar on him in a real street fight? any and all comments are appreciated!

Did the guy who was fighting in high school on the wrestling or boxing team? Does the bjj guy 105 pounds? is the brawler 6 foot 2, 250 pounds? There are to many factor.
But what I'm seeing he's that you are scared and your looking for a "perfect" way to defend yourself. Let me tell you this you will not be a lethal weapon whit jiu jitsu no but you will have tools to defend yourself, you will feel more secure if you are in a fight sometimes.

no, the guy wasnt in anything. hes a dropped out loser who dropped out of high school at the age of 17 i believe. he has a new girlfriend who i guess he feels the need to impress by calling me out to fight. i guess he thinks thats the only way to "hold onto her." hes about 250 lbs like 5'8" pretty fat. im about 210 5'5" but im not all fat. he has never played in any sports, he has never fought a fight to my knowledge, and this is a friend of mine. last i remember hes a pussy. but just needs to act hard for his girlfriend. i mean i doubt we're going to fight, hes just still mad, i rarely see him, and i have a lot of other shit to do. but it just pissed me off. and i just wanna train to gain some self-dicipline and confidence.

its not that funny plus I have met quite a few people that were solid at 200 under 5'7...the legendary kimura was around that weight at that height I always have felt that short stocky dudes are the baddest...and Im not biased cause I weigh 160 |

Nocturnal, this guy sounds like a fat POS. If his girlfriend likes aggressive slobs, she probably ain't exactly a hottie.
However, if he keeps confronting you and you have no choice but to fight, you should probably look into some Krav Maga, since it sounds like you don't have much long-term interest in learning an art.

Also, about short-stocky guys. I think they are the hardest to grapple with. They're limbs are short, which makes it hard for armlocks/bars. They usually have small, thick necks (hard for chokes duh). And I think most importantly they have a low center of gravity which makes most throws impossible.
Of course, striking is a whole different story.

There is absolutely no way to predict how the outcome will be but here are some observsations.
First off, if a guy has been in some fights, then he is "battle tested" compared to a guy who has trained but has never been in a fight. Competitions or tournament experience helps but with the adrenaline in a street encounter, one cannot predict what will happen. But, (I have posted this before) Fabio Santos told our class that after 6 months of constant training in Jiu Jitsu, you can take a majority of guys on the street. So, if you don't freeze up, some type of martaial arts training gives you a huge advantage. Will you win? Probably but not assuredly. There is always the lucky punch, KO, choke....etc. |
